For everything to taste sweet while taking prednisolone (prednisone)?

My mother currently has bad bronchitis bordering on pnuemonia & has been prescribed Prednisolone/Prednisone (depending where you are) & is now saying everything (food, drinks, cigarettes, etc) taste very sweet...
Is this a normal side-effect?
Have looked around on net & couldn't find anything but figured that's maybe as it's not a bad side-effect as such...

Anyone been on it & know if that's normal?

Thanks

Prednisolone can alter blood sugar levels. Not sure whether that could make things taste sweet, though. My guess would be not, but that is only a guess.

prednisolone and prednisone are not the same medication. prednisone is the metabolic precursor. Anyway, it's uncommon but taste changes happen. It varies by person as some may taste sweetness but I've heard others say that their food just tastes plain weird while on it. I'm a pharm tech.

Ive been on it A LOT during my life because of Asthma & respiratory congestion. Ive never noticed a difference in my sense of taste. Im not saying it isnt a side effect, could very well be...it just doesnt happen to me. Call her doctor & ask. I cant imagine its a harmful side effect anyways, see if her taste goes back to normal after using it. DEF side effects are weight gain/fluid retention, indigestion, hot flashes/increased sweating, insomnia & increased appetite. All these beingvbecause its a steriod. Make sure she drinks lots of water while on it too.
