Food allergies, iin?!

I have food allergies, some of which could probably kill me. Most of my allergies are fairly recent. When, I was a child I was only allergic to four things: pet dandruff, mold, pollen and something else. At some point, I found myself acting strangely to cucumbers and raw carrots. I didn't know that it was being caused by a food allergy so I did nothing. In my early teens, I had about two scary reactions. One was to raw carrots and I thought it was caused by MSG and the other was from black beans. The years leading up to my current age, I gradually had more foods that I could no longer it. Last, fall/winter and the past months of this year, I find myself constantly having allergic reactions. I've had to become a vegetarian as a result with not much variety in my diet. I can't eat any form of meat. I could probably have soy, but soy meat is usually made with ingredients I can't have. My reactions to meat have left so far permanent "problems" in my mouth. I once ate a soy product and I had a reaction. It left a bump near the back of my throat. The last time I ate shrimp, it left a discoloration on my tongue. Whenever I get a allergic reaction, 1. the bump on my tongue will grow hard and yellow. 2. the lump near the back of my throat will become irritated and swell or 3. near my gum line on my cheeks, bumpy lines will sprout and tighten. Making me feel very uncomfortable. My mouth will also become numb and things start to swell. My throat has never swelled, thankfully, but it can get very irritated.

I don't know what to do. I'm terrified of trying new foods, because of scared of a allergic reaction and being low on my anti-histamine. My family, I feel doesn't take it seriously enough. I saw a allergist a few years ago before I had so many allergies. He was rude and didn't believe my allergies nor did he test me for things that I was specifically allergic to.
Here's a list of foods I'm allergic to:

- sunflower oil, safflower oil, soybean oil, canola oil, strong olive oils and possibly sesame oil.
- raw carrots, cucumbers, most beans (especially if they come from america or mexico), butternut squash, zucchini, possibly pumpkin, possibly cooked white rice or brown rice, fried russet potatoes, tomato paste, fried food in general, possibly buckwheat, most cereals, mushrooms, corn starch, possibly spinach, oatmeal cooked on the stove, possibly broccoli, certain grains
- bananas, mangos, cantaloupe, dew melon, concentrated orange juice, strawberries, possibly raw: apples, peaches, plums and nectarines, pomegranates, possibly cherry juice, possibly raspberries
- red meat, poultry, seafood, fake meat (vegetarian meat), fried or scrambled eggs, deli cheese (comes in contact with deli meats)
- MSG, artificial sweeteners (aspartame, Sucralose, etc), BHT, BHA, TBHT,etc
- domino organic cane sugar, possibly honey, possibly stevia, gum
- ginger, possibly paprika, possibly cinnamon, and black pepper

I might of left some things out, but forgive me because it's hard to remember everything. As you can see, my choices are limited. I was thinking that maybe my allergies are caused by my country's unhealthy foods. There's pink slime in the meat and most of the foods contain GMO's etc. I went to europe awhile ago and I didn't have any problems with most of the food. I could eat a fraction of what I can't have now. I felt healthy, but when I came back to my country that's when it started to get really bad. I don't know what to do anymore and I feel like a freak. This is frustrating and very scary. I need help! IIN?

My cousin recently developed an allergy to 'live fruit' which is very strange as we've always eaten fruit.

I am also bothered by hayfever and take an anti-histimine so I was just wondering if one of these would help before you tried a little bit of your allergy food.

Are you sure that these allergies are not psychosomatic? They are so wide ranging, I'm beginning to think you just don't want to eat them so your body is reacting!

I swear this is the truth.... I was plagued by sore throats and the doctor said I'd have to have my tonsils out if I came again with the problem. 3 months later I was back with a sore throat. The doctor went through my notes and seemed confused, then he said, "When did you get your tonsils out?" Me - never! "Well, he said they've gone!" Eek! Apparently, they can just shrink away. My brain must've got them to go away rather than me go into hospital!

Maybe your brain is doing the same to your poor mouth? I think you should try acupuncture or even hypnosis to try to overcome these allergies. I get great relief for tinnitus from acupuncture - which is apparently incurable.

Good luck - eat what you can!!

"live fruit" as in fresh? Has she tried eating them cooked? Changing a temperature can alter the allergen.

I always try to keep anti-histamines on hand. I often have to take them at night, but they don't really seem to last till the next day. The next day, I could get a reaction and end up having to take them again!

Psychosomatic? No, I don't think so. Most of the foods I can't have were foods I used to love. I can't even get chinese food anymore, because they put mushrooms and meats in there:(

That's odd. Maybe, they fell off?

Anything is possible. I've been considering acupuncture and even Astral Projection.
Have you ever tried fire cupping?

Thanks, I'm slowly starting to incorporate newer things into my diet.

i would suggest talking to your doctor about what you can do to minimize your reactions.

I've ordered a test otherwise, my doctor would probably send me to that dick again.

Yes sorry, fresh fruit. I used to use anti-histimines that I could buy at the pharmacy 5mg but I am on 120mg from the doctor. Again I have to take these every day.

My tonsils apparently shrunk away - strange!

I have not tried fire cupping though I have used acupuncture and hypnosis. I even had my 'eyes read' which looks at the specks of 'toxins' in your eyes and can tell where there is a build up eg liver etc. You can get an eye chart on google images. The same guy warned me years ago to avoid mushrooms, aubergines, tomatoes as it wasn't good for my blood. Very interesting as I'd just had a blood clot. I do avoid them though.

I don't think you have much luck with doctors but you definitely need allergy testing!

Please eat what you can, gorgeous girl :o)

European food is starting to be produced the same way North American food is. There are some things not used often in European food yet, like corn syrup or insect protein, but there's not actually a lot of difference now.

It's curious your allergies would react so differently, though. Have you considered it might not be lots of individual allergies but an allergy to one thing that is used frequently where you are, but not often in Europe? A pesticide or something?

This is probably the cause. If I move to another country, hopefully the symptoms will go away.

If the EU is still has a ban on these things, than it makes perfect sense.

Try looking up things the us has banned and it doesn't even come up on the search results.

Sadly, since that webpage was written, two of the seven items have become commonplace in Europe (that I know of; it's probably more than two). Europeans banning things that harm people was widely criticised because not banning them harms business and raises prices.

If you're going to another country, you probably have about five years left where you can come to Europe, then you'll have to move on somewhere else where the taint hasn't spread.

Your list of allergies is so severe, have you ever considered politicising yourself and making the food industry put people before profit?

Allergies fall into the catogory of type one hypersensitivity, i myself do suffer from this in the form of hayfever and asthma. Sadly there is nothing you can do, when you eat these foods your body is seeing the antigens on them as a foreign body and as such it sets off an immune response by the antibody Iga, there is no way of cureing it.

I forgot to mention that if I eat something allot my body will start to act badly toward it, if I decrease the intake on that said item, then the symptoms will decrease. Most of my allergies came after I ate a certain food allot.

I have a theory that my allergies might linked to GMOs, Growth hormones etc. When I travel abroad I'll see if the symptoms let up.
