Finger nails only grow right during summer

Is it normal that my finger nails only seem to grow during the summer? By this I mean they break, chip and peel all the time in the winter, and I can't seem to get them to grow. But during summer, they are long, strong and beautiful!! It's June, and they are getting so long, I can barely type! I've noticed this happens every year. Normal?

Older sister has always had long, polished, very sexy nails, and, lets them go as long as possible during the Summertime. They can get up to 2" and are her pride and joy. During non-Summer, she's a teacher, so, while keeps them long, doesn't let them go to 2 or 2+ inches.

I'm jealous!! Mine have so many Vertical ridges that they split from them. It's horrible. I have to keep them short. :****(

Yep this is from sun and vitamin d. Try a nail Hardener in winter and hand creams and cuticle oil and really massage them into ur nail. And regular manicures!!! If u get polish putba nail Hardener under ur base coat!!! Hope that helps
