Feels like things come towards me when i get off the running machine.

When I'm on the running machine and have been for ten minutes or so. When I get off and go to walk around, a weird optical effect seems to happen. It feels and looks strangely like things are moving towards me, faster than they are.

I'm not sure how I can explain is. I tried to ask my personal trainer about this, but he didn't really understand. Am I completely mental? Does anyone else get this? And why does it happen? I assume it's something to do with the brain doing something that would have more of a benefit if I was running and somehow, it doesn't know the difference between me running on the machine and in real life. But I find this very strange.

I can convince myself that I am on a running machine/treadmill when I'm not.

For example, walking down the street, I can convince my own brain that I am in fact on a running machine, relatively stationary and that the scenery is generated by a massive wrap around screen.

The fluid in your ears is still going at the same pace you were running at.

If you were running on a normal road this wouldn't happen because you would slow down and stop naturally.

However, on the treadmill, you're stopping suddenly and completely and your body hasn't had a chance to adjust.

Instead of stopping and getting off the treadmill, try slowing down first and coming to a more natural stop.

I lol'ed at your name for a treadmill--cute. Do people call it a running machine outside the U.S.? Anyway, I thought that disorientation happened to everyone after they got off a treadmill. It sure does happen to me.
