I'm 18 years old and I just moved to a new city and going to a predominantly black school in what I would consider the ghetto and there's all these guys who want to pick fights with me and say that I'm a pussy because I won't fight them. But where I come from, school fights aren't a regular thing, and I have never been in one. I feel less like a man because of it. Now I'm at a cross roads trying to decide whether or not I should get in a fight just to prove my masculinity and get everyone off my back. Is this normal that I fell this way and what should I do? Please I need held and I don't have any male figures around to give me advice (my dad's deployed through the army). Thank you for your time.

    You don't have anything to prove to anybody. It's not by behaving like an animal that you become a man. We are human beings! Just try hard to get good grades - real life begins after school.

    No, don't get into any fights.

    These schools are not like they are on the sitcoms that you may have seen. It's not like "Take someone down and prove yourself and they will all see you as badass". If you get into a fight, you are opening up the door for more in the future and inviting others to fight you as well.

    Once you get started, it doesn't end. I am serious. I know these kinds of people, I know who they are and how they think. They do this because they don't know any better, no one taught them to be proud of getting good grades, no one taught that that being intelligent or athletic or talented should be what wins them respect. They come from homes with little to no respectable role models so they revert to behavior that is natural to them: aggression to win respect.

    Don't indulge them. Keep your head up, stay reasonable, defend yourself if you have to, but don't give them a reason to believe that you are willing to play into their bullshit. It can't ever be just one fight. There is no such thing as "one fight" with these people.

      Neptunian is right. I feel for your situation my brotha. To put it in a less pretty way like Neptunian...it's a real bitch. You are in a tough situation with little alternatives.

      Fight or Flight? Listen, take it from me who has been in situations of the same, don't be crazy. Don't act like a pussy. Don't instigate unless you are willing to take it further into what they do.

      Fuck it, try and be homies with them, an enemy becoming a friend still is destroying that enemy.

      Your going to have to let them know somehow that you are your own man, and they don't scare you. They only listen to strength. Keep to yourself, don't react until they touch you and just don't act weak. Best wishes my dude.

    Don't seek out a fight. Stay on the defensive (it will make them look bad should they pick a fight with you).

    Why pick a fight when you do not want to in the first place?

    Well, being a reasonable person you should understand that fighting may not be the best solution to everything.

    And, obviously, we don't go to that school along with you to see the situation. So everything I say here is based on my own mental speculation and experience.

    However, keep in mind that there is a chance that if you keep avoiding a fight -it will never end. Military schools, army, prisons, certain public schools are a very testosterone driven enviroment of constant srtuggle for domination. You don't have to be an alpha, but don't be an omega.

    It's not about racism or proving your masculinity, but sometimes you have to pick a victim and start a fight. You don't have to win it, but cause damage. Afterwards they might leave you alone.

    I was bullied in the middle school, but on the first year of highschool I just picked the weakest guy out of the local assholes' gang and made an example of him. When I came back to school I was still an outsider, but no one ever messed with me.

      What you said is true. If he doesn't do anything, it wont stop.

      But...

      If he lives in the ghetto like he says. It's not a good idea to attack the weakest asshole. In my experience, if you beat up one weak guy that cant fight he will just go and get 10 more people.

      In the ghetto fights don't end just by winning. Pride gets in the way, then family and friends get involed, and soon you will have cars full of people pulling up to your house with weapons.

      It all depends on where you live though. There is no real answer to the bully problem. In some situations fighting is the only way, and in others it is a horrible mistake.

    Fucking niggers are always trying to start trouble. Fuck them dude, don't back down to their stupidity. Fight them, I'd try to say one on one but we all know blacks never fight fair. Just remember, you are going to get in trouble anyways, so hit first, and hit HARD. Don't hold back. If you catch the first blow, your chances of winning are gone unless he hits like a bitch. They are insulting you on purpose, don't let them walk on you or you will never forget it. Even if you lose, at least you fought. And that is commendable in itself.

    Just don't expect niggers to fight fair, they never do.

          I'm ALL for defiance but come on, fighting for the sake of fighting - what does that accomplish?

          I'm sure he can think of something. I think I would recommend he get some friends of his breed and form a gang to keep the darkies at bay. If he can do that, the problem is as good as solved.

            It sounds like a majority black school, so that may be a problem if he started a "gang", they THEY would be the oppressors. We all know how the system loves to blame "ol' racist whitey". The black kid(s) are the ones just fighting to fight, he'd be fighting to defend himself.
