Feeling bad about old people

Whenever I see an old person who looks like they're struggling, I always feel really bad that I'm so able. And I feel as though they're perhaps jealous of me, for being so able.

Does anybody else feel bad around old people?

I feel the same way. I have actually been in tears because of it. I don't understand why, but I just hate it.

Well you do have a lot of compassion about old people don't you it seems. Usually when someone feels for someone they have a lot of compassion. I think that is what you have for old people. You know you may want to work with the elderly if you feel so bad about it.

I would advise being cautious about working with the elderly. I used to volunteer in a nursing home and take people from their rooms to therapy. I saw alot of sad things, and I would always be dreading the next day I would come.

You'd be better of playing games and making conversation with the people that still have their mind.

Seeing crazy old people all the time just makes you want to go home, grab a shotgun and die young.

We need to pass right to die laws so people can choose a nice passing. It's ridiculous to put people through such misery for nothing.

Look, when you grow old you'll be like that too, so you should take that back. Old people have a hard time, never knowing when they'll get a disease or die or something.

I dont want to live that long! Once I lose my independence and can no longer take care of myself I am going to overdose on my pain pills and die peacefully! No use prolonging the inevitable! No sitting in pain and loneliness begging for death!

Why people want to live that long is beyond me! its bad for the economy they tie up good jobs forever and ever make it hard for other people to retire because people just live forever now a days! Once my dick stops getting hard thats the beginning of the end!

I agree, i worked with the elderly for a few weeks, they had such amazing lives and were such incredible people, for instance; rose who i worked with frequently was in the army for a good portion of her life, raised 6 children each of whom went on to form very successful companies(though they dont visit her anymore which pissed me off) and had been so generous in her life with charities was now debilitated with several diseases including ones of the body and mind, idk if i can specify legally so i will refrain from doing so, and this depressed me so deeply it was so incredible. U are completely normal.

If they're struggling, ask them if they need some help. But don't feel guilty just because you're still young.

HA. That's great. I can just see it: An old man struggling with bags and the poster standing a few feet away, a hand held to their forehead in grief, thinking, 'That poor old man! Woe is destiny for cursing me with this beauty and ability and him with his wrinkles and cane!'

I actually pray that I am able to get around better when I'm that age. I don't dislike old people, I do feel that they shouldn't be allowed to drive a car at a certain age. If they are struggling, be respectful of your elders and go help them out. That should ease your conscience...

I feel that we, as humans, are living to long nowadays. I'm not sure if I want to be around and not self-sufficent. I'm 32 and I wish I was younger all the time; don't feel bad for me. You should be jealous of all the good drugs the elderly are on! :)

Is anybody an advocate on voluntary euthanization when a person gets to a point when they're a burden to the medicare, social security system, the families and they start having one issue after another? Say you're in your 80s or 90s? I'm 57 and I'm dreading getting older. I have great nieces, nephews and my friends have small grandchildren that I would rather make room for so they can have a chance. People are living too long. We euthanize sick and old animals out of mercy? I think I would want to have this done. In fact, I'm in the process filling out an advance directive. Remember the WHO " hope I die before I get old"?
