Feel like you are making other uncomfortable

When I was younger I would cross the street and pass by cars and there were Caucasian peple driving and the would lock there door when I walk pass. This has happen to me on more than one occasion. Yes, I am black but now that I am older I always feel uncomfortable around older Caucasian(white) people because I think I am making them uneasy and I don't want to make anyone uneasy around me. Is it normal for me to feel this way and if not how do I fix this.

  • when you see someone who seems uncomfortable because you are around, just smile and say "don't worry whitie, i won't kill you. come here you silly billy you!!".

then stretch your arms out wide for them to come over and hug it out with you.

LIVE YOUR LIFE. There are people out there who are not worth pleasing and will never be pleased.

Ignore them, and you'll be happier.

It's probably the way you dressed. If you were 'gangster' or how ever people labelled you and they were assuming a certain sereotype. Also the fact that your black might have had a little to do w it. It sucks that people are so ignorant as to assume what kind of a person you are just because of a way you look. I like PoolToy's answer.
It's pretty considerate of you to be thinking about THEYRE feelings so much as to not want to make them feel uneasy, but its theyre problem and they'll have to deal with their own insecurity/awkwardness if they feel the need to be so arrogant and judgemental.

like Chris Rock said "Theres black people, and theres niggas....THE NIGGAS HAVE GOT TO GO" and is that not true???? I acknowledge the fact that there are some Blacks that DESERVE to be among the elites of society due to their EFFORT to be, however the crime rate for blacks is very high, im estimating over 60%, meaning roughly 30% turn out decent, the 60% is this generation of teenagers. Please, this was not meant to offend, as these are my thoughts on the matter, and i hope that someone of a higher intellect may come to understand my way of thinking

Man I am white as snow and I sometimes feel uneasy because I wear a cheese cutter all the time so most whities look at me in a strange way and assume I'm some ganster from Detroit. We are all the same under our skin no matter where we are from but unfortunately it will be hard to convince close minded rednecks. There are so many arrogant pricks out there that think they are better than you but in reality they are driven by fear and paranoia. Most people are too scared to wear the clothes they like because they think they won't fit in with the herd but I say F**** that I was brought here on this planet to enjoy life and worry about what other close minded C*nts think. I fully understand you man. I sometimes feel the same around people. Where is the compassion and respect gone? Soon people are going turn into machines with no F***** souls and no hearts. A lot of people are just a representation of a human but inside they are demons filled with negative energy.

hey man, im white, i see when people do that, i dont really do it, but i think the reason most people are, is because, some of the african american teens, are becoming gangsters and usually doing some pretty bad stuff, it sucks, because there kinda making all african americans look bad. point is, its probably not you, and not everyone is like that. :)

It's normal for anyone who is trying to survive a social stigma, or even depression, to think they are making others uncomfortable. Some people are going to be uncomfortable no matter who you are or what you do. So just be you.

I am white, and I lock the doors of my car at lights even if there is nobody crossing the street. Black people dont really make me feel uneasy, they kind of make me feel comfortable, like I know them or somthing ?

im blakk i get this kind of attention ALL tha time. but it may not be a racial issue. i can relate bcuz if i see a big ass creepy ass muthaphukka im gonna do wat i can to protect myself. Nature, instinct. so u have to understand and think deeper. i wouldn't want to help tha thief steal tha car by not lokkin tha door. so this is yalls homework 4 tonight. put urself in someone elses situation and think about tha other reasons they feel indangered other than tha race stereotype thing. and to tha white people who act like yall aint never seen a blakk person b4... fukk yall!!

People who do that are terrible people. Please do not generalize and give people of other races a chance, they may surprise you.

If anything, it's not your fault but theirs.

i hate when that happens. if i am having a bad day it is somehow interpreted as being a bad person or stereotypical thug. why is it that white people can walk around and have a good or bad day and people can be comfortable with them in any situation...

There are black people who you know you can trust but there are other black people who you don't.

In the end it's not baout skin colour. But it is a FACT that there are more mean looking black people then friendly looking. Because it's not that i'm racist. I have really cool friendly looking black friends but I really DON'T like those black people who look mean.

And you could have been born with the ugliest face but there is something about the way you are that is expressed in your face. People can just tell that. You can be really ugly and angry looking but people can just sense the goodness in someone.

This doesn't happen when you make people uneasy. They can see something a little threatening in you.

Also you have to keep in mind that there are other people that just see black skin and freak. But unfortunately there will always be those ignoramouses.

There will always be people who just can't accept other people or they are uncomfortable because they don't want to be caught staring at you and charged with racism for "staring" or some wierd crap like that. The thing is if a person who is a minority decides to call a white person a racist in court most likely the white person will lose a given case. For example a boss fires a black worker from an accounting firm for being a complete retard and fucking up all the numbers and causing a major client to leave for another firm. The worker takes the case to court claiming that the man is being racist chances are many people will lose respect for the boss reguardless of who wins the case and there is a possibility he might lose. So blame the people who keep pulling the race card to scare all the white people away.

I live in a big city (Houston) so black and white people are always interacting. There are tons of black people who could give a s**t what I think about them in Houston, and they carry themselves with pride. Some are DJs and rappers, some are businessmen, etc. But still I know what you're talking about. It's just an ugly part of this country's history, unfortunately.

Sometimes when I encounter a black person I feel like they feel like they're making me nervous, so I get nervous because of this. Sometimes they weren't actually nervous, however, but when they sense I am nervous, it makes them nervous, which makes me more nervous, etc... (vicious circle)

you weren't carrying a gun by any chance, were you? hehe, I think this is terrible that you feel uncomfortable about what others feel, as a white man i say fuck them. As long as you don't plan on doing what they fear, let 'em fear it.

ok your first comment was cool but that second one was just ignorant. wow so all black people should wear glasses so they wont look like the robbing type of black people. what bothers me the most is that you are probably not even aware of how totally ignorant and stupid you are. i say all this with love!

Im white and it dosn't change anything when i see someone from a different race. Maybe because your used to it happening you tend to look for it or think people are getting uncomfortable when they actualy arnt but as for the people that are dont waste any of your time worring about them, its there problem not yours and you shouldn't let it bother you!

I think it depends on what part of the US you're in. If you're in the heart of the US where people aren't very used to different races, they're going to be like that.

But if you're in a place where there are many different races and people, I think walking by a car wouldn't phase a person in that case.

Unfortunately you can't change prejudices of some people, but we have a black president now so obviously its accepted by a lot of people across the country, thank god. and took long enough. lol.

Sorry if that doesn't really help.

you can put people at ease by the way you walk and carry yourself. you can show them that you do not have bad intent through even a smile and a "hi" or a comment about the weather.

you cant do anything to fix it, you will have to learn how to live with it, sadly for you (and only because of the country where we live) if you come from a race that is a minority most likely you will be seen like a threat to whities, I come from a minority too and I just don't give a fuck, I know what I am worth and the people that knows me know it too, so if you are black and you don't want to feel that way I guess the only thing you can do is try to do things different, I mean like the way you dress the way you walk or talk, if you are the same way all black people are that's how they will see you, sadly this country is full of narrow minded ignorant conservatives that think that we are invading there land, THIS TO ALL OF YOU ! FUCK YOU ! THIS WAS THE LAND OF THE NATIVE OF AMERICANS YOU KILLED !

man fuck that. that was a long long time ago. indians would kill and plunder and take over each others land long before white people came along. same with slavery. africans sold each other in slavery long before white people started doing it. learn some history you ignorant fuck.
and btw racism goes both ways, as you just made evident. other races hate whites just as much as some white hate other races.
