Feel bad when parents spend money on me?

Okay so there were times when my parents would buy me stuff and I would feel bad because it would be something I wouldn't use. One time I looked in my dads side table and there was a electronic sudoku. Well I was being selfish and said "I like sudoku" and stuff, trying to get him to give it to me, then I asked who the sudoku was for and he said "Sarah" his girlfriend or whatever. Christmas comes around and he gets me sudoku. I don't even like sudoku, I was just being selfish right. And there were other times when I would cry (randomly) because they spent money on me, and I don't use it. Is it normal to feel this way? Cause usually kids take advantage of this... :l

I have a similar problem. My parents once bought a camera for me and I was really excited. Then I come home and I read the manual and everything. That was in December, and then it got really confusing for me and the battery was acting up. I tried changing them, charging them, nothing worked, and I even e-mailed the manufacturer and they said the problem could not be resolved. Never used it ever since. Then one day early July I found it sitting in a pile of old clothes going to donation, and it was quite dusty and the screen was all rubbed up. I was so sad and I told my mom I felt so guilty about it, and she told me it was fine, things don't always work out. She told me that she really didn't know which camera to buy me anyway, but I still feel guilty about it to this day. They bought me one for my birthday last week, though, which rocks now. Still, it's just hard for me to grasp the fact that things like that happen.

    that is very normal.

my mom always tells me I am so hard to buy for on Christmas but I kinda like that, I don't want her spending a bunch of money on me.

Its good that you're aware of it and care, rather than completely oblivious and careless. Those kind of kids are the worst and they are spoilt..I always feel bad when my mom gives me money, really bad actually I usually even so no to her even when she insists..you just tell them that you appreciate everything and love them lots :)

Thats very sweet and normal you care about what your parents are spending on you. it is definitely a sign you are independent from them and detached. A true sign of independance.

its normal, i'm the same way. but i've learned to let my parents know that they could be saving money if they dont buy me unnecessary things. turns out they like that idea, they like to save money. who would have thought...

i wouldnt say you arent normal, because greedy selfish brats are quite common.. i might call you stupid though because who says they want something that they dont like, to get it, and when they get it they feel bad haha pretty must up.

I seem to get somewhat of the same feeling, i never liked accepting gifts as i would always know that eventually its going to waste and ill get bored of it. Or when im out with someone, they would try to buy me something and id just say no. thats just me
