Fear of cockroaches

Is it normal for me to be so afraid of cockroaches that even after the cockroach has been killed and thrown away, I will remember the exact path which it had taken, and avoid stepping on the exact area for the next few days (or until i have forgotten)?
Because I feel that if i step near or where the cockroach had stepped, it would be equivalent to letting the cockroach's feet touch my legs! ew!

Very normal - for me it's slugs and snails! A while back I accidentally put my hand on one in the garden, I howled and screamed like a lunatic *shivers*

I lived in china for a year and had to deal with cockroaches in my flat (so not something I am used to here in Canada) and I know exactly what you mean. If stare at the same spot where I killed it until I saw a new one in a different spot. Never did see two follow the same path...but that never stopped me. Now that I'm home, I do the same thing with spiders.

We're kinda like cats that way. When you turn the laser pointer off....the cat will stare where he last saw the red dot for hours.

Scared of cockroaches huh? Well you'll love this little story that really happened to me:

Many years ago I decided to put the tent up in the backyard and camp in it. Anyway one night I was lying there almost dozing off to sleep when I felt this funny tickle on the side of my face but I was too sleepy to bother itching it so I ignored it. In the morning as I lay the trying to wake up I felt the same tickle on my arm so since I was already awake I open my eyes to scratch it and what did I see on my arm? a live cockroach! and it was one of the gross types that have wings UGH! I bolted wide awake and jumped a mile in the air to get the bastard off me. I managed to get outside without touching it.
It was so utterly disgusting that that thing is what was crawling on my face the night before. I still shiver when I think about it.

My little tale with probably give you nightmares for weeks. Sweet dreams lol >:)

Have a relative that lives in an area where cockroaches sometimes make their appearances in her home. She posts pictures and they're NASTY!

I suppose it's normal since many people have fears of bugs.

This won't make you feel any better at all so I'd advise that the OP stops reading at this point...

A friend at school had family in Pakistan and stayed with them for a couple of weeks over one summer. The first morning he woke up to find most of his skin covered in cockroaches. It still makes me shiver to think of that.

Cockroaches are very clean, and when it comes to insects being around me there are a lot worse. German roaches, on the other hand (those small ones), I can't stand.
