Where is Bram Stoker's Dracula and Anne Rices books? This is blasphemy!!!
Anne Rice Interview with the Vampire is one of my favorite reads. Her other novels are amazing as well.

Well, I don't want to be an arse about it, but Bram Stoker should have at least been on the list, even if no-one voted for him.
Everything written by amelia atwater rhodes, good vamp stories. Twilight is fucking stupid, who the hell wants to read about goody glittery vampires that don't kill? Not me, I like my vamps a little evil ;)
Other: The list lacked a couple of well known authors.
Sherrilyn Kenyon: Dark-hunter series. Immortal "dark-hunters" who hunt down Vampires (daimons) who suck both souls and blood. Very prolific author, very hot sex scenes.
Linda Lael Miller: Penned a 4 book series featuring vampires, humans and romance. Some of her best work.
And you seriously didn't put Ann Rice down? WTF? Her books STARTED the most recent trend. I mean sure I like Twilight and all but... you seriously ignored one of the most famous series.
And SUPERWTF. No Bram Stroker. Hello? The author who solidified the folklore of vampires into the most famous classic?
He's not on the list but a teen romance author is... O_o
true blood rocks but i would choose salems lot by stephen king im into horror novels/movies not drama love crap its quite boring to fantasize when i could be doing that but with vampires and fiction you can imagine anything
I have to say Laurell K. Hamillton the Anita Blake series though that doesn't just have purely vampires in it. But it also has detailed sex haha
House of Night series! Way better than Twilight. And I agree with pandabear1209. Amelia is an amazing author.
I loved twilight... Until I read it the second time. Now Bella sounds like a fucking snob. Still an ok series but I like chronicles of Vladimir Tod
Twilight...so 'bad' it was good. Glitter, yes, lol! Not knocking it. Vampires are fiction, right?

darren shan is the only vampire author i will read from this generation. i first read his books when i was in year 7/8 and thought it was more original than stephanie meyers glitter fest.
Anne Rice, duh! However, Bram Stoker.....meh. BUt, he should be on the list, as well as Anne Rice.
I've gone off vampires, there was a period where literally all new YA books were something to do with supernaturals, trying to climb on to the sucess of the twilight band waggon, now I'm totally put off by all of them. If I had to say one, it'll be true blood, up till book 8 they were really good, after that it goes downhill
I would vote for L.J. Smith but it's not the Vampire Diaries series it's Night World! Its vampire aswell! But it's so awsome I love it!

None of the above for me. I like Interview With a Vampire and the True Blood TV show (I just can't get into the books), but my favourite interpretation of vampires is probably the Blood series by Tanya Huff.
My fav vampire book is
"Midday-The Adventures of a Horney Teenage Drama Queen and her Dominating Boyfriends (who are monsters)."
It kinda rips of Twilight though, but hey, it's better written.
Steph Meyer (coz im distantly related 2 her) and Richelle Mead-Vampire Academy
