Terminator 2 is the peak of all things Terminator. The complete flip of Arnie being reprogrammed as a protector, Edward Furlong's exceptionally likable (and convincing) performance, nutjob Robert Patrick being genuinely scary, Linda Hamilton also being believably scary and hard, the story arc, the pacing, the effects, the message, the humour in the dialogue, the action.
Don't get me wrong, it's no Citizen Kane, but it thrilled me the first time I saw it and it still does today. There isn't a slack moment in the whole film.
Rise of the Machines doesnt ever get the respect its due. I dont think its as good as 2, but its still a good movie. I love the uncompromising ending of Judgement Day occuring.
Rise of the Machines and Judgement Day are my two favorite. The 3rd film does not get the respect it deserves.
Eh the kid that played John Conner was complete crap he was so bad I couldn't enjoy the movie
He wasnt that bad, I mean I dont think he was fantastic either, but he certainly wasnt any worse then stupid Edward Furlong in 2. A female terminator is also tough to pull off in general, but being a guy I had no complaints with a pair of tits and ass to look at on screen.
I totally disagree furlong was very believeable as a rebellious teenager dealing with a traummatic event the relationship between him and hamilton was drawn out well by the story and both of them did excellent jobs playing their roles. Also his affection for the terminator is an accurate representation of how a lonely teenager would feel towards the first father figure they had encountered in their life. One thing he had on his side though was that the John Conner character in terminator 2 had more depth then the same character in the subsequent two movies, rise of the machines he was focused entirely on his own survival and wasn't easy to relate to. Salvation he is a military tactician, and hardly portrayed as emotional. To me John's character in terminator 2 is the only one that felt realistic and had any depth, in the other movies he simply served a neccessary purpose of pushing the story along. I prefer furlong though alot more of the other 2 even though I do enjoy batman, blanking on name and too tired to google, however sometimes I find the dialogue to be more important then the delivery of the lines. I can see your view though, but which do you think is the best 2 or 1
T2 is head and shoulders above every other film (or TV show) in the franchise. The effects in particular are so excellently done that they still hold up today and look better than a lot of other action films being made now. Action film makers should take note that James Cameron is a master at building characters and emotions through both dialogue and action. The structure of the film has a great build to the action scenes and the climax is well worth the wait. The characters all grow and evolve throughout the story and they become more real and relate-able as the film progresses. The villain is both frighteningly intelligent and deadly but at the same time the T-1000 is also somehow warm and likeable. T2 is by far the crowning achievement in Schwarzenegger's career and he delivers a performance that is tailor made for him in every way.
Lastly: if you have never seen the Extended Special Edition you need to go out and get it, the additional scenes are well worth the purchase price and they add a whole new depth to the entire film.
I was disappointed when I saw T3, not in the effects or the story, but in the actor who played John Connor and they really could have done so much more with the villain T-X.
Anybody ever think about how the terminator franchise seems to be a perfect prequal series to the matrix, essentially the terminator franchise is the same story but set a considerable amount of time before the matrix series. I don't really know of any other franchises that are about a war between A.I. and humans. I'm sure there are some though, if you know of any let me know the idea fascinates me.
I haven't seen the latter two, but I'm positive that they could never be nearly as great as T2. I don't particularly even like action films or sci-fi films, but that movie is simply perfect.
Terminator 2: Judgement Day, is one of the greatest action films ever made. The special effects still look impressive 21 years later.
i like one two and three, all were fantastic but if i had to pick one it would be 2
I really like 1 and 2.
One thing bugs me though...wouldn't it have been easier to kill Kyle Reese, or prevent him from going back in time, thus preventing the existence of John Connor all together...No need for all the hassle of time travel and all that. Stupid machines.
Without Kyle Reese there to create John Connor then the machines would have totally taken over. Thats why Salvation was all about finding Kyle Reese. Oh honey bunny you knew that already.
Well, since the machine's goal was to take over, and their only resistance was John Connor, then if they didn't know at first that Kyle Reese was John's father.... why not, upon finding out this little tidbit, go back in time and just destroy the time machine. Or kill John Connor when he was a baby? Or go back in time, break Sarah Connor's legs while she was pregnant with John, and while she's bedridden, kill her and John in one shot. Or explode the hospital when she's giving birth. Or send a terminator that looks like a kid, he could become John's classmate, befriend him, and then kill him when they go camping together. Jeez, even sending a less evil looking terminator would've been more effective.
Machines-good at making movies, terrible at carrying out contract kills.
Yeh see this is the problem you get into when you write time travel into a script.
I mean why didnt the humans just go back in time and get a bunch of Tyrannosaurus Rex's to come back and eat all the machines? Or conversely why dont the machines build a T-Rex terminator, that is just UNSTOPPABLE.
"Get to da choppa!"
That was by far the best Terminator movie in the series.
You pray at the alter of Troll in much the same manner I do, albeit in a slightly different non brute force way but we all worship in our own way.
Join me and together we will show these young impressionable, possibly nubile youth the full power of the Troll.
Trolling is for those without insight similar to film makers that rely solely on shock value they contribute nothing and offensive for no reason
You can't be serious.
You should join the Army or something and get these notions of Trolling out of your head. Become a decorated Soldier! The Few. The Proud. The Army.
I was in the Army, it seems commanding officers dont take kindly to being called "candy pants" instead of sir, especially in a fire fight.
Let me tell you that whole "dont ask, dont tell" thing, total bullshit.
In order, it would be Terminator 2, Terminator, Terminator: Salvation and then Rise Of The Machines :)
