We'll it has the benefit of being the most socially acceptable thing to make fin of, plus I think there's am inherent fear of becoming fat seeing as unlike a lot of other things that are deemed undesirable being overweight is something that could potentially happen to a lot of people at some point in life
Because excess fat is due to hormone imbalance which is either inherited or caused by an environmental factor. There is no magical answer because it's cut and dry you're looked at as being weak. Both women and men look down upon weakness in people because of survival instincts.
It will never be fully accepted unfortunately unless maybe it becomes a lifestyle choice.
I don't actually think they hate fat people. I think they hate themselves so they find flaws in others that they can pick on to make them feel better.
We live in a strange culture that focuses on the unhealthiness of some traits and ignores the unhealthiness of others with not much logic behind it. Secondly, we are supposed to villify the alledged unhealthy people. Like smokers and fat people. We're supposed to hate them. We are not, however trained to hate people who drink alcohol or misuse prescription drugs, or don't exercize but just so happen to not be fat.
What extent of "hate" do you speak of? Are you talking about people who constantly make fun of fat people? Are you talking about people who won't date a person if they're fat? Are you talking about people that think that all fat people did it to themselves and never even bother to consider that maybe that person has a hormonal or genetic problem that isn't their fault?
