Existing,the universe,space,life.

this is stupid, but when i sit and think about the universe and how it's always been here and we're all on some planet, not knowing how everything started. It's weird to think that space has always been here and no one made it and it never ends.
surely there must be some other type of life if space never ends.
its weird thinking that we're on a planet that's floating in the middle of blackness, full of stars and other planets.
Blackholes too, no one knows what it's like in one, and where stuff goes when it goes in a black hole.
Then i'll think about death and how we're all going to die sometime, it makes me seem like this all isn't real :S.Like if you don't have a life after death, then all you've been alive for is worth nothing.
anyway, people comment this please, wana see what other people think.
and i know some people are going to leave some stupid comments, thinking their clever.
but im just interested what people truly think.

okay you live to pass on your genes. nothing more.your born to reproduce and carry on the human race.the world wont end on its on. it is us who will end it.and as for your life being worthless thats a lie. you make it worth living. you make it what it is. do your best to make you and other people around you happy.have a comfortable life make some changes in the world. then when you die you know you did something. you know you helped out another person out of you own free will.
    this is just my opinion.

why do you think our dreams are eternal? our minds are eternal. we can think without limitations am i right? or is your imagination just a piece of useless space for you. reality is the illusion... always will be... and always will be the hardest thing for you to understand... because to understand it you have to think it in many different ways... love is the wanting to create. fear is the wanting to destroy. love is the wanting to help others. fear is the wanting to help yourself. positive. negative... we arent supposed to realize this... but the more questions you ask... the more answers youll recieve... but once you know... you wish you didnt... because the whole point is to get lost in yourself... so much that you think were alive. were not. never were... you will only feel it. if your caught up in your life... youll fall the hardest when you realize you arent a damn thing. when you fear nothing.. you will die knowing you experienced everything.... than become nothing again. which will you choose?

i know this is old but i just stumbled upon it. i think the reason for the universe is that it has absolutely no reason.... we just dont want to realize that we are nothing. nothing can create something... wanna know how? by canceling each other out. think about it... if all you were your entire life was nothing.... wouldnt you want to be something? so you start identifying yourself... you start holding on to things.... your "born" which i believe is caused by vibrational frequency known as fear.... your fear to let go of who you think you are... you think your someone... but really you arent anyone... your cells in your body, are ever changing, your hair is ever growing... so then if everything in your body is every changing, everlasting... then in reality all you are is merely an observer... when you divide nothing... you get a negative and positive charge wanting to come back together because they need to cancel out to become nothing again. everything in the physical world is balanced because it all cancels out... because in reality it isnt anything at all... but everything at the same time. arent we all nobodies trying to be something? trying to make something out of ourselves? didnt your parents want you to grow up and be somebody? then they told you you had to realize what you wanted to be? creation is a form of destruction... that is why my friend above said we are eternal... because we are... we arent our bodies... we are united... infact we are the same "person"... no... were the same universe.... not trying to figure out who we really are... because we already know what we are... we just want to forget about it... cause it scares the living shit out of us... literally.

I often have thoughts along those lines. I don't believe in an afterlife or anything like that, I think that like all other life on the planet we're born, we reproduce (generally), and then we die, and that's it. Sometimes I wonder what the point is.

Great minds think alike I see. I have the same thoughts on our existence as you do. Its really strange when I think about it but i dont tell anyone because well for one things its pretty sad to think that our lives are pointless (no matter how true it is)
and secondly i thought maybe i was just weird for thinking like this.

But anyways, your not strange for thinking this. You are 100%% normal to me

anyone knows what is the effect of quantum statistics on string fluctuations and Spectral DBrane singularities in multiverse theorems?

Get the answer of this freaking question I have been asking myself, and you get your answer about our origin. So told me an LGM in my dream and I cant make sh*t out of this crap. So i started reading about quantum mechanics and particle physics and I am no where near knowing it yet. I have only studied till Calculation of Quantum field theory with separate duality eigenvalues and creation of pentavalent eigenstates.

It took me 3 months to cover up the portion of an advanced B.Sc and M.Sc course from Cambridge textbooks and now with the knowledge I turned to learn string theory, where in a book on cosmology I found this question. I am dead tired of thinking and I feel my brain could explode any moment. With the exceptional work I have done, the multiverse looks all but a muudled mess to me full of DBrane differentials and String potentials and tensions I never I had.

Please help me by answering these questions, or the LGM of my dream challenged me that he will destroy our planet if I dont. Help!!

I am only 17! how much do u expect me to do people!!! I am going mad!

I think the biggest problem is that no one was there to see what happen. So we come with the most logical explanation and call it theory. It might be right, but it doesn't have to... what if the answer to these questions are so complex and infinite that our mind could never understand it and would therefor have to come with an simpler answer for us which would be incomplete in all ways... but would make some sense to us. We cant even imagine how little we really know, jet many of us claim to know things just because someone told them so. What I want to come through is that it rather pointless to chase these questions because they are the fruit of our curious nature. Still, it can be fun to let you mind wander through the universe, I do it very often and I enjoy it. Just that :)

I've got a lot to say...

Firstly, your ideas are good and open-minded and what I think people seem to not understand is that the Big Bang Theory is just a THEORY and (probably not the exact correct answer) so why are people mentioning it? They're mentioning it like it's the RIGHT answer to how life was created (eventhough they probably don't think this). They're saying it like he should have said "The universe hasn't existed forever" or something a long those lines but he's being open-minded and coming up with his own theory that the world has always existed.

Secondly, (I know this is a bit off-topic but it relates to the comments) I don't believe in religion. However, I am agnostic and open-minded. I used to think it was a fabricated story that people gradually began to think is true but now, I'm beginning to believe that religion was created to control other people because of what The_Enigma said. The fear of hell made people do what the people who created religion wanted them to and I'm thinking that the people who created religion were leaders, power etc. at the time. This fear led to closed-minds and people who followed the crowd instead of people with open-minds who think for themselves and come up with their own possibilities. And it makes sense, people have to follow the commandments, do this, do that and why? Because a book tells them to. And there's no proof that it's real. So this is why I think people with lower IQs are easily influenced by religion - they can't see that there's no proof and stuff like that. Again, I'm not saying that people who follow religion are stupid. There could be other reasons like, family, culture, spirituality, fear of death etc or maybe I haven't opened my mind enough to see their views. (I know I said I'm agnostic but I'm saying that religion was created this way but this is just one of my theories)

Finally, I think that the big bang theory is probably the most correct because...
There is evidence that the universe is expanding from the blue-shift/red-shift theory thingy, I can't remember. Anyways, the universe is expanding because the Big Bang is still pushing outwards. Also, the universe is getting colder because the waves travelling through space have gradually changed to micro-waves. And it could be getting colder because the energy created from the Big Bang is being spread across the universe because it's expanding. Do you understand? It's like if you fill a glass with water and then make it wider, the water level becomes lower because it's speading outwards.

Thanks if you read this, I know some of it is off-topic from the question but if you read the comments, it's relevant. Also, sorry if there's a lot of mistakes because I haven't read through it to make sure if it makes sense and if the punctuation and spelling is correct.

I have not read all the comments, but from some of them, they say that the universe has been around for infinity. But, the theory of the big bang states something different. That time and matter were created some forty begilion (I have not clue really) years ago. There is another theory that stems from the big bang, that space will start to contract sometime in the very distant future. So life is not going to be eternal, nor ever was. From my religious view (Catholic), I believe that there will be some after life, and that life is not a bleak coincidence of molecules happening to form a living cell and then evolving from that (though I do believe in evolution). When I think about life in the grand scheme of things, my theory is this: EVERY LIFE IS SPECIAL, AND SHOULD BE PROTECTED. WE SHOULD ALL WORK TOGETHER TO MAKE EVERYONE'S LIFE WORTH WHILE. IT IS OUR PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY TO GIVE MORE THAN WE TAKE. And a new approach to life that I have just recently thought of is: RULES ARE MEANT TO BR BROKEN AS LONG AS THEY DON'T HURT ANY ONE ELSE IN A SIGNIFICANT WAY. I thought of this because life is so pose to be lived out to its fullest, and rules hold you back from this. So, it is okay to brake the rules if you are not talking away a significant amount of joy from another person. A bad example would be stealing: that is bad. But a good example that I can relate to is: trying to sneak out of a school dance. It doesn't hurt anyone and it makes life a little more fun.

Hmmmm. It's not stupid. It is actually quite intelligent. Most people cannot question existence that way. Well, I have thought about this quite a bit myself, and can only offer ideas. If all matter is energy, it is eternal. If energy cannot be created or destroyed it has always been here, there have been quadrillions of races and forms of intelligent life before us, and there will be an infinite array of them after us. On more planets and in more systems than you and I could ever comprehend. (Unless something happens to prevent this, but the chances are small, seeing as how large infinite is.) But, all of these truly is meaningless, (It won't give you the feeling you are looking for, the understanding of all of this.) As someone said, there isn't really an answer... There may even have been humans before, or humanoids, there may be cavemen 130 light years away right now, discovering the jawbone as a tool... (2001 anyone?) But, like I said, everything truly is meaningless. It is trying to find beauty in the dissonance that completes me. May you find happiness as well. Chance are, death is not something to look forward to, unless you are truly tired of life. I would not think too much about these things, as they mentally age you far beyond what you should be. Meaning you will soon give up if you continue... Give up on life I mean.

These are all very standard thoughts for someone young and introspective. The thing is, they are pretty spacey ideas so you don't hear too many people expressing them. But yeah, I think they just serve to expand your mind a little; they are healthy, normal, and a sign of a good intellect!

To be quite honest, I do belive that living(Even without life afterwards) is worth a lot. The fact that some ppl may or may not have had the "Best" life is not their fault, but it doesn't mean that the journey of life was wasted. Some of us have it SO good, that we don't stop to think what it's like to be living in an alleyway, living off of their own urine and whatever scraps they could find in a dumpster. Or even perhaps their own feces...I shudder at the thought..

Now onto the first subject, I do agree with you there. In the never-ending schme of things, in an infinite universe, there just HAS to be something out there. Maybe more humans? Or even things beyond our imagination. But it's something I don't think we'll see in our life time.

You've got a couple assumptions that are generally assumed to be false. The universe didn't always exist. We suspect there is a big bang, but we have no idea what the universe was like before or if it even existed. The big bang theory is pretty vague, and not that well explained. We don't know that the universe always will exist. We don't know if we are expanding into anything or what is at the edge of the universe. A black hole isn't an actual hole. I suspect only subatomic particles can exist in it though. Things do radiate from it. Your thoughts are very normal and I wouldn't discourage them unlike some pricks here. You can even come to a better understanding of physics with a college education and make a career out of studying such things. Everyone is afraid of death. Consciousness is unexplainable too though and it seems to be expandable or layered, and evolving. You are what is called an existentialist. I am one too. You'll never find all the answers, but you can come up with better view points. Of course it seems like the majority of people don't want to think about the unknown, but when I said you are normal, I meant compared to my friends and myself. They aren't normal. Normal people watch too much tv. Look into joining the Masons.

"i dont know how you morons dont belive in Inteligent Design (AKA God)."

Seeing evolution taking place does not mean one doesn't believe in god.

And the logical error in the last paragraph is an extremely common one. Pointing out that we're living in a planet having absolutely everything we need to live, that being so infinitesimally unlikely to happen that surely a god most have placed us specifically here.
But it forgets that there are gazillions of planets out there, with all kinds of circumstances, and only in a place with circumstances perfect like you describe, can there life evolve up to our point to begin with.

If circumstances wouldn't be right, we wouldn't be here in the first place.
We'd be in another place or galaxy, asking the excact same question... why circumstances exactly where we are have everything we need to stay alive.
Us not existing in places in which we cannot survive is not a coincidense.

    Its not intelligent design.

I always struggle between faith and Intellect...
On the one hand, I pride myself in critical thinking, thinking too much, and being an openminded person and maintaining personal opinions...
I can't understand how people refute evolution, and defend flawed doctrines.
On the other hand, if there is no god or otherworldy existance, I will never see my father again for all eternity- and he simply blinked out of existance.... It makes me feel cold. And then there is the chance I am going to hell for thinking with my own mind.

So, it depends on the mood I am in... agnostic/atheist/jewish... you are not alone in overanalyzing

    ANGST.

but seriously, there is an end to space, and not much life is out there. if you know anything you would know that the planet earth is in the pretty much ONLY spot it can be, if any other life exists, it was made by God as well. maybe another earth, maybe named differently by the humans on it, wondering the same thing. Some say the universe ends, and there are just infinite paradoxes. endless thought, life, anger, hope, love, destruction.

the only thing i know about this is, earth is pretty perfect in location, even the atmosphere, the size, the axis, the speed it moves around the sun, the size of the sun, how old and how hot the sun is, even how bright the sun is, how much water there is on earth, how much land there is on earth, our moon, surrounding planets, our place in the Milky Way, The Milky Ways' position in the universe, the animals on earth, pretty much everything is so perfect, i dont know how you morons dont belive in Inteligent Design (AKA God).

God the analgystic crack baby of middle aged, acient/medieval/modern day hippies who needed something to play with.

God is the asshole who turned you into close minded, ignorant, arrogant, imposer. If god is Intelligent Design, why create things that are SOOooo uneeded in the galaxy and beyond. Why have planets that serve no other purpose than being there to look pretty. Have you ever stopped to think, that just maybe...there may be orginisms out there that have evolved and mutated into the "Perfect" beings so that they could survive?

No...you'd rather sit up on that high throne of yours with ur head up ur ass and massive useless bible and contemplate more and more about HOW "Perfect" we are, and how "Perfect" he location is, and how utterly empty the INFINITE universe is, becaus your God doesn't allow coherant thinking does he? He'd build, construct, create, billions and billions of planets, stars, black holes, nebulas, and displays of flying comets for our amusement and so he doesn't have to rear his ugly head to us EVER, EVER again.

How about you grow up huh?
Coz at the end of the day, Earth is a shitty liitle piee of stone, that maybe someday hopefully implode upon itself, taking all of us with it.

      Good day to you sir.

Unless you're a philosopher or sci fi author who is being paid for your thoughts on this topic, it seems all you're engaging in is mental masturbation.

It's entirely normal to ponder such things, but there really are no hard and fast answers to questions like "Why are we here?", "What happens after we die", "How and why was the universe created?", etc. We can only know tiny pieces of the puzzle, and that has to be enough.

But if you are really looking for an answer to the meaning of "life, the universe, and everything", the answer given in The "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by the computer Deep Thought is as good as any. The answer? 42. It always works for me, anyway.

everything exists in your head. that is the only reality you have. our minds have incredible power and the energy that exists in us will never die. that is true of our universe. use your mind to create the world you want around you. focus on what is truly important and the universe opens up.

  • i had an amazing dream...space was a place where we go when we die. funny thing was, i was up there..floating around in space but i couldn't see myself. Then i heard the voice of my uncle who died a few years ago and i told him i couldn't see him and he said he couldn't see me either. I asked him what we were doing there and he just said that we have to wait there. i asked him what we are waiting for and he didn't know..he said we just have to wait..if was fcukin trippy but it made so much sense..it was like i believed it so much that this had to be the place inbetween. When i was up there i had no feelings of being cold and i didn't have to breathe as i or him were not actually there in human form...it was like being a soul if you get my drift...What we were waiting for was a mystery... If you believe in something enough then thats what its there for..thats how you understand it..If you think and read about space all month and watch programmes you might just have a weird space dream..I didn't even think about it...i just dreamt this cool dream and now i must go...my people need me.

i believe there are supreme beings out there..i think the human race may be one of the stupidest races ever created. i also think there may be alternate universes that we may not be able to see or even ever communicate with. i think that when we are born we have paths to choose, and we can change them with things that we may do or dont do. i also do believe in reincarnation. you have certain lessons in life that you need to learn and when you die you may stay on this palin--a spirit or ghost for a while if you didnt finish what you felt you needed to, tell people things or whatnot. and when it is time for you to come back in a new form..it could take 3 years or 100 years but this is the beginning of a new lesson to learn. i have know idea what happens to your soul when your done with your life lessons though. but i do know that most people.. know every one from previous lives..like me my mom and both my sisters and my niece an aunts are all greatly connected on a spiritual level.. i guess thats all i have to say about this

yeah it is weird to think of us on this little orb floating in space.there is other life out there tho it is rare likely we;ll never encounter other life forms.this little planet had all the stuff just right for life as we know it to evolve.there are probably other life forms out there that we can hardly imagine maybe silicone based life forms or methane based.but all we can do is be happy with our life and have a good time before we pass back to the elements from which we came.

I think about that kind of stuff to. I just can't get my head around the fact that the universe just doesn't end, i just don't get it. How can something not have an end? How can something like this EXPAND? Like, its just this giant thing, just their, in front of me, yet it is so immense that sometimes it makes me feel so insignificant.

I think it's probably best that i don't think about it too much though, 'cause it is way too fucking incomprehensible for my liking.

Our existance is merely an experience, to carry on teh human race, no matter how much we get tangled up in our material world we still all have the same fate. Birth, Live, Die.

There is bound to be more life in this universe. Space and universe must have an end to. I mean what is infinity? something humans can;t wait till, because our life span is too short.

I guess the true meaning of existing is to be able to be on yoru death bed and regret nothing. Love your life, yoru experiences.

Love fiercely, Live to teh fullest. :)
