Every time i work out or play football my ear starts to ring

Everything I work out or if I play basketball, football my ear starts to ring. After the ringing the left side I my head feels heavy. I'm scared it's something bad. It's last for a couple of hours. I usually sleep till it's gone. But I can't walk in a straight line, because my head feels heavy, and I get dizzy, can anyone help please?

Some conditions that can affect your ears can affect your balancing issue.

I would highly recommend that you visit an Ear specialist.

tinnitus can also be brought on by clenching or grinding your teeth. I clench my teeth when I work out. And I know football quite well as well...and chewing on theat mouthpiece will do the same. Next time you lift weights...contcentrate on not clenching your teeth and see if that helps you.

Regarding football....if it is clenching....I don't know what to tell you because you usually want to bite down on the mouthguard to protect your teeth.

Occasionally I'll have a ringing in my ears too.

Ringing ears (tinnitus) after exercise is quite common. It's often due to the increased blood flow. Some people are more affected than others, and it can be accompanied by nausea and dizziness.

It can be a sign of other conditions - cold/flu, ear infections etc. But the more likely cause is the increased blood flow.

If you're really concerned then it's always a better idea to ask a doctor.

(note: I've had this after exercise once or twice, and after sex too, oddly enough)

Not to scare you, but I get to a doctor ASAP. This sounds like a tumor or circulatory problem, and nothing to mess about with. I hope I am wrong.
