Ever watch tv and just become puzzled by the characters on the show?

I really stopped watching television due to trying to find work and other things but when I do, I often feel left out as I see characters doing stupid things or making incredibly stupid decisions that puzzle me. When I see a character faced with two decisions and the point of the show is to take the second opinion instead of a better first time and time again annoys me a little. I am not talking just one episode but the premise of the entire series.

My first comment is to refer about the character Rose off of "Two and a Half Men" with some off the wall thoughts.

Lately I have been watching the show "Two and a Half Men" with my fiance and I was thinking about the character Rose. While watching the show I watched how Rose threw
herself toward a guy who doesn't like her and is obsessed with being his girlfriend at
all cost.

I haven't seen most of the series yet so I am not sure how it ends but the idea of Charlie came to mind on how he could just be "casual" with Rose and date others
from time to time. This way he isn't alone and has a sex buddy whenever he wants. He also wouldn't be hurting Rose any more than he already is doing that and this way at
least he could have both mentalities.

Even if Rose turns completely jealous and so on, it would change nothing as I see it now and to prevent it I think Charlie would have to be upfront at the start what the
relationship between them would be about.

My second comment is toward Mythbusters. I love the show and are often sadden when I realise that even the stupid "jock" guy is smarter than me, however do some of them really need to always act like idiots all of the time. I love the show on what they do and accomplish, not a cheap laugh.

Anyone else feel this way at all? Am I the only one who thinks this way and if so, am I the only person who can think beyond a cheap thrill anymore?

fictional characters do outlandish things and unrealistic choices often on television shows and movies so the plot is interesting and enjoyable for audiences.....DUH

they are not real people, douche bag, everything they say and do is from a pre written script, if they acted like regular people making safe and plausible choices the shows wouldn't be funny or interesting.

Like me, I don't like watching t.v and when I watch my best friends' favorite show: When we're together, I avoid asking questions, because I think to do what makes her happy or my guys interested. Its just television, and I prefer running on a high school track by my house and if that makes me happy cause its making myself better so with my friends, I am happier that they have me to be their good company. I dont know, sorry for the rant.

The reason you do not understand this is that you lack an understanding of psychology. You should learn what relationships do to people. Once you learn that the show will make a lot more sense. If you noticed the characters all have issues. Charlie does and Allen and Berta even is suffering from her family problems.

That is what creates the dynamics of the show. So if you look at it in this way it is still fascinating really. As you get to understand how people react. They also explain why the characters act this way in the episodes but you clearly do not pay attention.

If you did pay attention you will realize the person to explain this is often the voice of reason(Charlies brother Allen). The show also is made for comedy so it is meant to be ironic. Leading people on does not always end well and rose is a great example.

You also fail to see the hidden emotions in the show. Which are Charlie does want to take care of jake loves him and jakes dad Allen. Allen has issues with women and when he gets dumped he drinks and does consumption of something is his solution to pain. Allen is miserable even though he was always a good person and bullied by Charlie.

That they both have some serious issues with there mother and that might be the reason they both have such trouble with women. Allen choice a controlling bitch who took him for all he was worth just like his mother. Charlie rejects his mother and therefore rejects all women and can not have a proper relationship.

He has tried a few times in the past and works to keep them but sometimes it does not always work. His solution to this is drinking or in one episode kept consuming pudding. To the point he began to gain weight. So even if you are over-analyzing this you still missed that.

I usually post something blunt and what others would deem.... rude or offensive. Always true though... you made an excellent point. I have the same thoughts in my head while watching T.V.

wow, this was exremely long. i see what you're getting at though. i think along the same lines when i watch tv. the other thing that makes me mad is how predictable TV is! it's like you can pretty much figure out how the episode is going to pan out within the first ten minutes of watching it. movies too, it doesn't matter what the genre or topic is, they all end up the same way.

2 and a half men is horrible.

But on to more pressing issues...Bud, really? All the time you wasted on this idiotic story could have been spent begging for change outside your local Wal-Mart or 7-11 so you and Doofus can pay your internet bill. Someone needs a lesson in time management.

I think your post ran way too long, but I do agree with you.

  • Yup but not to that degree. See there's this show called the Secret Saturdays and one episode Anti Zak was terrorizing France. When people confronted real Zak's parents and showed them the clip they believed them. But Anti Zak's eyes glowed green while real Zak's eyes glow orange. The difference was obvious and even I figured it out. Thankfully Drew, the mom, also noticed it but I hate when characters fail to notice the most obvious things.

  • 2 and a half men is a sitcom, not a soap opera!
