Ever gone out w/ someone who looked similar to an ex or former crush?

I have seen this happen so many times with friends. And its happened to me before. Just wondering if anybody has done it...

Yes, the similarities are there. But thats just the type I go after. 33

No, but I tend to notice people whose body and face resemble those of my former crushes.

The way I met my boyfriend, was when I was walking in the streets, I saw him, he looked terribly much like a crush I had... and that's why I decited to talk to him :D

I said hello, and when he told me his name, I asked for his family name, just to check if he wasn't a relative of my former crush :D

3 years later I told him this and he took it really bad, but now we just laugh about it.

Both an ex of mine, and my current boyfriend used to be fat, and then lost 100lbs or so. So they are still all squishy, you know? Lol.

But it was accidental, as I didn't know my current boyfriend used to be fat when we were first dating. I didn't even suspect anything until he changed his shirt in front of me once, and he turned around and changed it all fast. He looks skinny, until he takes his shirt off. He has a little rolly belly and I love it!

Sure, because what we are attracted to doesn't just well up from nowhere. It's based on all kinds of people who have meant something to us. I think we start with a rough template based on our ethnic origin and our parent of the opposite sex (for straight people) or even siblings, and this gets tweaked a little when we're attracted to someone (tweaked towards that person or certain of their characteristics), tweaked more when we enter a relationship, and yet more when it's a serious relationship. My first and my last girlfriend could easily have been mistaken for sisters. Evil sisters, but sisters all the same.

One time I actually noticed the "tweaking" while it was happening. A girl I had a dalliance with looked enough like Jennifer Aniston for me to link them in my mind. As we got closer, both her and Jennifer Aniston became more attractive to me.

I can even pick out what the characteristics are that make up my current template. A girl with any one of them is going to get noticed by me.

  • And I'm talking about a striking resemblance.
