Esthetician with tattoos?? acceptable?

will be starting school next month for esthetics. I have a couple tattoos but they are not visible.

I wanted to get a tattoo on my arm.. I cant explain very well where the placement is but basically it is if you put out your arm as if you were to shake someones hand your pinky is pointing down if you follow your pinky down your arm there's the bone there if i haven't lost you yet. well that's where i want to get it. i want to get it under my wrist but on that bone part of my arm but on my left arm, that way if i were to shake someones hand you don't see the tattoo because its on my left hand. plus its not as visible because of the placement.

My question is do you think its acceptable or should i not waste my money on getting this tattoo? I've been wanting it for a couple of years now. its nothing drastic just the words "patience&youth". I'm wondering if there are estheticians with visible tattoos and if so how accepted is it?

Any suggestions/advice? Honesty is appreciated.

You should get it. In the end you will be regret letting something stupid run your life. Tattoos in the professional world are fine and won't cost you a job as long as they are not offensive.

The problem with this is if you work in a professional job they might ask you to cover it and due to it's placement that might be a problem. However, if it's just those words i think it would be fine and i see no reason for you to need to cover it but just be aware they might ask. Although i know a teacher who has many arm tattoos and the students can see them clearly and she don't need to cover them so it might be fine.

I personally wouldn't have a problem with an esthetician with tattoos. Some people are fussy I guess, but you know as long as its not a skull eating a baby or something offensive youre probably fine.

Surely tattoos will go out of style soon. Even if they don't, something that seems cool in your 20s probably won't seem sophisticated at all in say 5 years. People change.

What melodi said... It's fine, but having exposed tattoos for professional jobs is usually not acceptable and you may not get hired at some place

It shouldn't matter ! But sadly it does ! I figured out what I wanted to do before getting all of my tattoos done . I don't have a problem with my tattoos and I work around people everyday ! It depends were u would work

  • I think that it should NOT matter if you have visible tattoos. I mean it's your body, you can do what you like to it. It's not as if your tattoo will make you bad at your job. Society has a different view and I find it plain stupid. Do research to see if it will affect your job or not.

I would hope it wouldn't matter but have no idea if it will. I think that society shouldn't judge you on your tattoos but also know that it is stupid enough to do so.

Ask around to potential places of employment regarding their tattoo policy. It is more acceptable in some places as people slowly embrace the idea of visible tattoos. If it isn't visible and easy to cover up, it shouldn't be much of an issue.
