Every language is weird in some aspects. But that's why they are interesting.
I think the study you're looking for is "etymology", the English language is an endlessly fascinating hodgepodge of many languages, and it's still changing. In fact, I read dictionaries like novels :P I am an unashamed word geek. And yes, hodgepodge is from Old French hochepot "stew, soup," first element from hocher "to shake," and from a Germanic source "hotzen" to shake. Am I cool or WHAT!
Of course it is, it's called Philology and some people spend their lives in Universities studying this! English is related to the old Indo-European languages therefore you can find all these connections with other languages including stuff like Egyptian. (Neteru means Nature)
Yea sometimes I think about how English sounds. Like the word measure sounds French.
I also think about how wired words are like potato. Anyway I agree
when i think about it, ya. it is normal. i think of that in my head sometimes when im bored.
It's normal. Sometimes I repeat a word over and over in my head and it totally loses its meaning.
Haha I do it too. But I also think tht whoever came up with English is stupid. Like some words just don't make sense. It should be easier to read and write words
