Empty vessels make the most noise

Whenever my dad calls, he yells into the phone and I have to turn the volume down. He thinks yelling is needed due to the distance.

Whenever I am not in direct sight, but still close by, like when I’m slacking on the sofa and hidden by the backrest, he has to yell at the top of his voice as he doesn’t think I’ll hear otherwise. This makes me jump out of my skin.

And to top it off, I can hear him munching in the kitchen all the way to my own room, which is 10+ meters away.

Is he outright stupid or just very oblivious to his surrounding? His hearing is completely normal

    Lack of self-awareness, self-important attitude. Stupidity can definitely be a part of it too.

    When I was in school my dad would wake me up in the biggest dickheaded fashion. Id be peacefully asleep dreaming about shit and id hear "AYE!!!! WAKE UP BOY!! SCHOOL!!"

    Id be like you scared the fuck out of me can you not scream then it was always "I DIDNT SCREAM!!!!"

    You've got the saying wrong, dude. It's that they're empty in the sense of they've got nothing to say, not that they're just loud people. Empty vessels make the most noise because they bullshit and make up lies to cover their nothingness.

    His hearing may be degraded. People with degraded hearing often talk loud and yell.

    I'm often accused of this because I spent about 4 decades in very noisy work environments - and have lots of charts on my hearing loss (high frequencies go first).

    Lower voices are, in fact, more “dominant”.😈

    I fucking despise when people don’t shut their fucking traps for a reason.

    I’m sorry guys, but here is the truth of my life.

    Both of my parents are dead and I have no surviving siblings. My Grandmother on my mom’s side raised me. I stopped loving her when I was 18.

    I am ‘empty’ inside. But mostly not. I am my own human being. I do not want to follow an “arche-type”. At all

    I have no idea if I still have any surviving siblings or not. I doubt it.

    My entire immediate family is dead.

    I am not weak at all. All I wanted is for others to be as strong as I am.

    Again...fuck em up buttercup;)

    I belong to MYSELF and no one else.

    Do not forget it.

    Probably just oblivious to his surroundings, in the sofa scenario.

    Many people who didn't grow up with smartphones talk louder than needed when on a call.

      Those were the worst people to get in the drive through when I worked for Burger King. There was a good mic out there but for some reason people thought you needed to scream your order for me to hear it on my crappy headset.
