Empathy/respect towards meat
Wasn't exactly sure how to word this one, but lately I've been feeling pretty empathic and respectful for the animals that end up having to be grinded up for the meat that goes on my plate.
It's not enough to turn me on a vegetarian diet, the fact is I grew up around meat and love the taste too much to just stop eating it. But before I eat a steak or a piece of chicken as I say grace I always end a mentality note saying "And I give my thanx for the animal that was forced to sacrafice its life so I may eat this meat." Sort of as a token of appreciation for the short life I know this poor cow or chicken or pig had to endure and die for.
I also do it for eggs since well a chicken had to give up its natural rights to produce a fertile egg in order for me to have eggs that don't have chicks in them. And I've also being doing it for fish who had to struggle in a net to be served to me.In fact I've been doing it for any piece of meat, seafood or any other product produced by animals dairy included.
Again I don't think I could ever become a vegetarian but is it normal to feel sympathy and/or respect towards an animal destined to be on my plate?
