Embarrassing illnesses

I'm curious to see how many people here have had an embarrassing illness / condition and which are the most common.

I have had pin worms, ringworm, head lice and a wart.

Of course you may have had a number of these options too, so select the one that caused the most embarrassment at the time.

Fungal (Thrush, ringworm, Athlete's foot etc.) 8
Worms (Pin worm, Tapeworm etc.) 5
Warts 7
Cold Sore (Herpes) 7
Lice or fleas 6
Piles (Haemorrhoids) 2
Scabies 4
Chlamydia 2
Gonorrhoea 2
Irritable Bowel Syndrome 5

I'm generally lucky with stuff like this but I did have warts when I was fifteen. As I remember they were pretty bad. I think I had about thirty or forty on each hand and then I got two on my upper lip. Eventually I had to have them treated in hospital. This doctor bloke put liquid nitrogen on them (which didn't hurt) and they went black and eventually fell off. The ones on my lip hurt like a *****, though.

Oh, I once had urinary tract infection. That hurt like a ***** too.

Oh, and I had nits when I was seven or eight. That was the fault of a girl at school. I didn't want to kiss her in the first place. And I certainly didn't want to share the head lice that were crawling around her barnet.

A friend of mine got poison ivy on his man parts once, I don't remember how he said it happened. He said it was even more embarrassing because the doctor was an attractive older woman and she had to see the rash to make sure it wasn't a STD.

I had warts for a while as a kid, one on my foot and one on my little finger. It was embarrassing because word got round somehow. So when we did a dance rehearsal at school none of the other kids wanted to hold my hand, not even the unpopular ones; nearly overnight I had become bottom of the pile :( Luckily it only took a few sessions with the dermatologist to get them iced off.

IBS has been with me for most of my adult life. It's a fairly mild and manageable version, luckily, but it got to the point where I decided to try and do something about it now. It would be nice to have a normal bowel movement once in while. I'm not asking for much, am I. In fact I'm gonna see a doctor on Monday.

I had a huge abcess (or do you spell it absess?) on my forehead at age 10 - the doctor measured it 4x4! They had to lance it twice to get the blasted thing to go down - I was going to have it operated on for removal but they said the scar would be GINORMOUS so they lanced it again and it went away after awhile.
My friend makes this joke that if I'd had the operation and got the scar, I could have said that I was a unicorn and I was having my horn removed!

My fetishes were always my embarrassment. Not a disease, but when kids in high school were talking about sex, I'd get very uncomfortable because I got off on other things.

I had a sun allergy for a while that caused crazy rashes all over. That wasn't much fun.

IBS. I never eat spicy foods at least 2 days before I know I'll be going out wearing a pretty little dress.

I once had a few black dots on my foot that might have been fungus, though I haven't had any other 'common' illnesses that I know of.

I've had cold sores maybe once a year since I was a kid, if I get the cream on them as soon as I feel that tingle I can usually stop them breaking out into a horrible blister though.

So glad I've never had a wart though, they kind of freak me out. A girl and I were flirting with each other once and she mentioned the little scar on her hand was from a wart she'd just had removed and that was it for me, no way that thing was coming near me.

Warts, but it wasn't embarrassing at the time because I was too young to care what anyone else thought and I was used to being treated like I was weird anyway.

I get a fungal infection on my hands every year in the summer; it's brought on by the light or the heat or something like that. I can get a cream that makes the pain bearable and brings down the sores, but nothing seems to prevent it. It's frustrating because I can't go out much in the summer and if I do I need to wear gloves, which looks ridiculous.

And something else too, less of an illness and more a condition. But I'm not going to talk much about that one, even though it's no longer a problem :P
