Of all the possible drugs... ecstasy?

I'm pretty much impartial to drug and addiction issue, you have the rest of the comments here talking how bad it is for you.

What really bothers me is that fact that you're talking one of the "dirtiest" drugs on the market. I mean, speaking from a chemist's point of view, it's terrible mixtures of stuff you don't wanna be taking.
    1.please consider cocaine or opiates.
2.Try to avoid using too much lab/designer drugs. The issue is -if you know your lab and your chemist it could be the best thing ever, but the shit that comes from disgusting labs, made by people not qualified enough to clean my toilet is such a bad idea..

Next time you do think of the people you will affect if you die

    1. Yourself (obvious)
    2. Friends will be torn
    3. Parents may just want to kill themselves because of sadness
    4. Your future family. (children, husband.)

you sometimes get more addicted to the actual rush you get before you take it, than the actual high the pill gives you. my mother is an addict and she says that she hates the feeling of being high but cant stop because she craves the rush of leading up to it.

X isn't for me. I tried it once and not much happened I could see the trails and shit but I didn't really feel it till the second time and it made me feel like I couldn't really feel anything. I couldn't feel if I had to pee or drink I didn't even feel when I threw up. I prefer to be in control of my body. That's why I just smoke weed haha. I can do everything like I normally do I just enjoy it better. With x I could barely function and had had a horrible comedown I didn't eat for like 3 days didn't sleep for 4 days. X just fucks you up. I'll never do it again. That's my opinion haha

If you get nervous when taking E it's probably a sign that you've done enough and it's time to move on. Same thing happened to me with magic mushrooms and E and I dont't do either anymore

E does actually burn your brain a bit, the more E you do at once the more your brain gets fried, it's nasty stuff. When I was younger and far stupider I used to drop an average of 5 a night twice a week, sometimes taking upto 12 in a night. I can tell you honestly that I don't think my brain will ever fully recover, short term memory is almost non existant and I suffer from mild deppression, neither of which I had before. I also blackout from booze after about 6 drinks.

Ecstasy is unable to form an addiction. However, the everyday use may cause psychical diseases like the long lasting depression. Don't use it more often than once per 2 months

E was used heavily by many psychiatrists, psychologist, and counselors in a controlled setting to help their patients get to the heart of their problems. It said to help people with autism be able to connect with others. In fact, the originally wanted to make it schedule III(which is even less restrictive than Adderall). If it scares you though stop taking it. To all the people that say "If your not addicted then why don't you stop."I say tell that if your not "addicted" to your house then why don't you stop living it? Why... because it's enjoyable.

been doing E since 95. used to do it everyday while i lived in California while i was going to grad school but i only do it on the weekends now because i work full-time.
i do it because it makes me more relaxed while socializing and i enjoy the music and the scene. but it's not for everyone.

    @ Gowila:

Ecstasy refer to the chemical compound MDMA (Methylenedioxymethamphetamine).

"Speed" most often refer to various amphetamine salts or methamphetamine, chemically related to MDMA but still completely different compounds with different psychological and physiological effects.

So no, ecstasy does not (or at least should not) contain amphetamine (speed) of any kind. However there are a number of different chemical analogues to MDMA that are often sold as ecstasy (most notably MDA and MDEA, if memory serves me). MDA and MDEA both produce effects almost indistinguishable from MDMA to the novice.

But then again like some other poster mentioned, it's not uncommon that pills sold as "ecstasy" contain very little to no MDMA. It's often cut with ephedrine, caffeine, amphetamine, pma, bzp or methamphetamine amongst other drugs.

While MDMA and its analogues are fairly safe when used in moderation, unless you perform vigorous chemical reaction tests you can never be sure what's in your pills. Therefore a lot of "ecstasy"-related deaths can be attributed to PMA, BZP and other substances passed off as ecstasy.

MDMA and its analogues aren't harmless though, there's been deaths from dehydration, seizures, strokes and heart-attacks just to name a few - attributed to pure MDMA and/or analogues.

    @ The poster:

I'd advice you to stop using it immediately, especially at your age. Since you're young and I assume in good health you're unlikely to suffer any acute complications but as I mentioned earlier it _can_ lead to depression (often treatment-resistant), anxiety and/or cognitive impairments in the future. Especially since you're at an age where your brain is still developing.

Oh by the way, to the guy above. Pure speed is the same as pure xtc. It's the same drug dumb arse

It doesn't burn holes in your brain, that's a big load of shit, I don't know who the idiot that made that up was. Your brain mistakes it for a neurotransmitter and leaves the neurotransmitter called serotonin from being taken into the synapses, and you get high from your own natural serotonin. It's the same as an antidepressant. You may get heart problems, and other health problems, that's if you don't take a dodgy pill and die.

You get nervous because your body is preparing for it. You may notice that if you listen to music that you also listen to on e you will get the same reaction because your brain associates the music with u taking the drug.

As an ex officer and member of the drug task force I can give you an opinion based on actual knowledge and experience. More times than not, you aren't actually ingesting X, XTC, however you choose to call it. Pure X is rare and a lot of times you ingest speed, or a home brewed mixture of trash and poison..not good. Do a little research online concerning the dangers of X that go far beyond time spent behind bars. Good luck!

It doesn't literally burn holes in ur brain. But it is not good for ur mental and physical health. Long studies show that it leads to depression, schizophrenia, mental illness, and planty of other scary things. Especially since u have been using for awhile these things could become more prominent in u when u r older. I suggest u stop te outcome is not worth it

Haha, the old "holes in the brain"-myth :)

On a serious note though, I used ecstasy for a couple of years in my late teens (a few pills a month) and developed a pretty severe clinical depression after this (that remains to this day), I can't be sure if it was the MDMA (or if I was even getting MDMA in the first place) but some research point a link between depression and impaired cognitive functions from pro-longed ecstasy use.

Personally if I could go back in time I'd avoid it altogether, or at least limit the use to a few times a year.

However most of my former ecstasy-popping friends are perfectly healthy and happy, and they used way more than I ever did.

    Go figure.

It burns holes into your brain. For real. Nuff said.

  • It's an addiction and dangerous. People have died from only one hit of ecstasy before and that's not to mention the consequences for your health.

You cannot die from ecstasy, only if the pill has been cut badly will that be an issue, and then it wouldn't be the E that killed you but the other chemicals mixed in, pills are safe if used properly, make sure you have access to water and you should be fine.

The two main reasons why people lose their lives on the drug are down to either drinking too much water, as the drug slows down the rate of ultrafiltration in the kidney and eventually, if enough water is taken in you will effectively drown yourself, the other way is by dehydration, when you're buzzing you might not think about drinking any water till it's too late!!

Still as long as you have sips of water fairly regularly you should be fine.

However as with any drug excessive use can cause problems, and it's the same with ecstasy. The thing with a drug like E is you aren't physiologically addicted but rather psychologically addicted, so my advice would to try and make the breaks between pill taking longer, and aim to get it down to once every 3 months.

Personally I like having a pill once in a while it's a great rush! Just don't make it to regular an occurance!

      • I cannot agree with you on such a point. I've read countless times in newspapers and heard on the national news about people dying from using ecstasy only once.

I do not wish to argue pointlessly but taking any sort of drug is a dangerous activity to do and not really sensible.

As I say though, each to their own opinion.

          Conchord91 is actually right.....
You cannot die from pure ecstasy. meaning MDMA.
The drug isn't capable of killing a human. Some other reasons why people die their first time is because ecstasy isnt always pure MDMA. Drug dealers will often mix in filler drugs such as cocaine, meth, speed, lsd, amphetamine, opium, and other drugs. These impurities is what causes over doses and deaths. Again its impossible do die from PURE MDMA unless you over heat. In that case you're not dying from E, you're dying from lack of water. Yes trying ecstasy is a gamble, but i've tried it many many many times and its safe under the right circumstances. I've even had pills that were laced with meth and im still alive.
I just don't recommend anyone who has a heart problem trying ecstasy because it could have fatal effects.

        • Although I do take the point about it being badly cut and having extra crap added to it etc.

Even so, drugs are illegal for a reason.
