Eating non edible things

I have a friend who eats erasers and actually craves them. Is this normal?

'pica' is a symptom of severe anaemia too.

I used to do that all the time when I was younger, everyone thought I was weird but I liked the way they felt when I chewed them. I liked play dough and plastic toys too

It's okay. I drink 19 molar sulfuric acid everyday, and I'm still okay.

She may be anaemic. People with really low iron levels sometimes crave non-food things.

    Well...I suppose it could be...
If you're worried about them though, try giving them a plain, tough gum with the same consistency.

But wanting to chew them isn't that strange: I chewed on wads of tin foil until I was about 10, and I still do it every now and then because I like the flavour.
