My 13 yr old son asked a drop dead gorgeous model 1/2 my age to go out on a date with me (his dad). She said she would love to & it was too weird / exciting to say no. So the 3 of us went out on the date, she falls madly in love with me. Together 1 yr now. I was 43 and she was 21, although she lied and said she was 28 . Her job is traditional Thai ballet and model. B4 any bigots say Asian gold digger, she comes from a rich family, good job and doesn't need my money. My mother hated her at first. shit loads of racist assholes, men & woman, suddenly felt it their moral obligation to educate me in my erroneous ways. Her mother (equally beautiful & lovely) now sees Aussies as ignorant & racist for attacking her daughter with racist slurs & prostitution innuendos. Her mum loves me to death for making her daughter happy. My GF is totally weird, off the planet, awesome, talented, educated and beautiful. I am none of that. She says, "I saw you with your son and saw a truly good man and father and I wanted you to be my husband".

    Sorry for the rant. I want to ask what people think, re. the age difference or a race thing or both? Are the reactions of my Aussie friends and family normal?
    We have faced a shit load of moral judgments & racism. I have deleted many friends from Facebook and have told many Aussie friends. & family to F-off.
    I once new an Aussie Christian couple, he was 42 and really cool. she was 18 & very hot. Also, my Aunty is 30+ years younger than her late husband.
    Why the flying fruit cake are people so against us? One guy posted, Asian slut, monkey whore & gin jockey (deep apologies indigenous brothers for repeating). Another, I only 'F' the Asian slut cos cannot get a white woman. A really close ex-mate (woman) posted, no decent, self respecting white woman will touch my filthy cock again.
    Sadly, I have come to think my beloved countrymen are multi-cultural only as far as the front door step. Its ok to have Asian, aboriginal and black friends but now on the fringe.

      He's not shy at all with girls, never has been. Something, I have encouraged at every opportunity, teaching him to be a gentleman and always made it point to engage girls his own age in conversation (I used to puke with nerves at the sight of a girl at 13). He makes me proud when he meets someone, even a big scary bearded bikey bloke, cos he confidently shakes their hand, says G'day and engages conversation, taking an interest in them. But he's lucky to carry his mothers genes. As a baby he looked like the home alone kid, now he hates been mistaken for justin Beaver (sometime) which was funny in northern Laos recently when a buch of village girls thought he was JB & a big photo session ensured.
      In the case of my GF, he was playing with perpetual motion magnetic ornaments in a shopping centre, she was there and struck up conversation with her. I nearly fell over when he asked her to come on a date with me. now it's all a big joke between the 3 of us as he claims I am cutting his grass. There's more to the story about why he asked her but I'm sure all this is as boring as bat shit.

    From the last sentence, I gather she wants to have children with you. The redeeming quality you have to offer and which is most important to her by the seems of it. Is that you would make a good father to her children.

        It's a natural attraction. 100% I meant it in a reassuring way, since you made it sound like you had nothing to offer. Just wanted to add: It doesn't always matter what race someone is, it's common for people to appose couples. My 20 year old friend had to disown her own family in order to be with the man she loved. They had no reason to dislike him, just like your situation. It's a shame your friends and family feel like being so outwardly racist, but in the end, it comes down to being a relationship people ignorantly have trouble accepting. It would be best to make a decision on how to handle it. Defending your relationship, or giving in.

        "May-December" is a term used to refer to relationships where there is a significant age disparity. As you surmised, May referring to the younger and December to the elder.

        While there is actually a generally-accepted mathematical calculation for what is a 'normal' age gap, it is an arbitrary one, formed by social expectations and not necessarily adhered to in any case. (The rule of thumb is .5(yourAge)+7 = youngest age to date without raising eyebrows. Raised eyebrows therefore might occur in your case, but I wouldn't worry about it.)

        One of the reasons that women are commonly the younger of the pair in a relationship is actually related to fertility. While not everyone will choose to have children, men are able to father children at a more advanced age than women are able to safely bear them.

        Different cultures have different values and expectations for what construes a normal/appropriate relationship. Depending on where and when you are examining social norms, you will find entirely different conventions.
