I dont drink out of tap either. However rain also has pollutants in it. Just drink bottled water from the store. Thats what I do. And to purify it more run it through your own brita filter. If you dont have one yet every one whos paranoid of water should own one.

Mate, you are right. Government does recycle water, most women take pills and in somehow, their hormones will be in sewerage. Recycling can't get rid of these hormones 100%.
In London they do recycle sewerage water upto 5 times, in Yorkshire, they don't or in worst case scenario one time.
Collecting rain water could be harmful cozens of acidy rain and that mostly happen in USA, India and some part of China. If u live in the UK, u might be alright as most of it, the wind carry it towards Norway

it probably depends on where u live, here the tap water is cleaner then bottled water (snow runoff, not treated sewer water)
