Do you feel like your spouse or long-time partner has slowly but steadily taken more and more advantage of you? Have you become responsible for more and more, taking up slack or covering for your spouse?

My husband and I always shared the work load. So, whoever made the dinner didn't clean the dishes / pots afterwards. Now that we have a son, I help with homework while he usually prepares dinner. I tend to do the laundry coz he doesn't believe in ironing.

My rule is, if you see something that needs don - do it! Don't moan about it. You could've had it done by the time you talked about it.

My Husband and I have been happily married for 40 years; {Anniversary just happened 09-14}: And never once have we ever taken advantage of one another we both know what we need to do to keep the home fires burning and we do it and are cool with it.

We're not even married and I feel as though he does.. I work 30+ hours a week, he works 20-25. I cook, clean, do laundry, do the dishes.. basically every household task besides taking out the garbage. Which he even slacks at to try to get me to do it.
I get irritated a lot.. let me tell you.

    So yes.

You can only control what you do, your decisions.
Enable? I did at one point, I just did the dishes, did the laundry, cleaned up without being asked, I thought that he would return the favor here and there....... but guess what, he didnt.
I realize now that if I did the dishes yesterday, Im not doing them today, Im not saying anything, Im just not going to do it. If they last 3 days, Im not doing it - the message here is that he isnt going to complain about doing them, he knows you did them yesterday. Sure here and there one person may pick up the slack for whatever reason, but you cannot play the 'keep track' game it never ends up good.
If you feel like you have done your fair share,(ie: you just vaccuumed) sit back relax, let him do the dishes (dont say anything, it isnt necessary..... unless he prefers to live in filth, which, I cant help you there).
