Does your parents do this?

A group of young kids were being delinquents and kept going into and jumping on top of other people's shed and back garden. I was going to tell them off, I really did but it just wouldn't come out of my mouth.

I told my dad about this and he said I shouldn't say anything because the kids might do something bad to our back yard too. Another incident Is there was a loud party of students and it was getting really late going on to 2-3 am and there's a rule that state that no parties should be held over 12pm if so you can call the police.

I was going to call the police but my dad yet again said no as they might find out it's me and have bad stuff happen to me :/

I'm starting to think that the reason why I hesitate to say what's on my mind and do risky things is because of my dad being overly cautious.

If anybody understands what I mean please comment?

My parents do that too and I hate it 18

Maybe he had a bad experience with neighbors in the past. My dad called the cops on neighbors for drivin ATVs in front of the house at all hours that destroyed the road. (We lived on a private dirt road and had to pay for the damage.) They retaliated by slashing all of the car tires. The cops were useless.

      This.

Cops are seriously useless and take it from me, OP, living next to people who are immature assholes who you have pissed off in the past is like living next to amateur terrorists.

I don't know where you live, but you can call the police anonymously here.

  • I'm with your dad on this one.

When people are already that inconsiderate and you try to scold them or punish them in some way for their indiscretions: They won't think twice about fucking your shit up in retaliation.

Sometimes, it's better to just let it slide. Pick your battles.

I don't know what my parents do because I haven't lived with them in a couple of decades, and they don't have any neighbours since they live up in the mountains.

I stared at the word "does" for a long time until it didn't seem like a real word anymore -.-

If these were the only two incidents, then your dad may just be letting these things go as generally there aren't problems. Sometimes it's better to suffer a small offense rather than risk offending someone else and making the issue worse.
