You hear the expression " beg for mercy" all the time but I can't think of a situation in real life where this might happen. I mean its always menacing pirates or villains in bad movies. Can you think of a situation where it makes sense?
Some children get abused by their parents and I think for them it is normal to beg for mercy.
I once saw a man crawling on the floor begging his wife not to kick him out. He was grovelling like a dog and offered to kiss her toes. It was oddly satisfying cause he was a cheating douchebag.
A person might beg a judge or jury for mercy like if they might get the death penalty.

I once had a crazy fool break into my house with a knife. When I aimed my .44 at him, he literally begged for mercy. He didn't get it. :)

He had a weapon, he was attempting to attack me, and he broke into my home. It was self-defence and I had every right to kill him. So I did. Luckily, there was a security camera in my house, and I used the footage as evidence which cleared me of any criminal charges.

a guy I know put a gun to a guy's head and pulled the trigger but it jammed. everyone who witnessed it said he begged for his life and cried. he didn't kill him but he beat the shit out of him with the shotgun
the guy who did it was only about 16 at the time. he also microwaved a live cat and fired a shot at my cousin who was one of his best friends. he's doing like 5 years in jail now. I hope he doesn't get out alive
