Does she like me?

Okay, so I'm 17 years old and I have a crush on this woman in my course who is 41. o_o We're doing a Journalism course together (she's an adult student, obviously) she's been single for a year and a half after the break down of a 10 year relationship. She's a lesbian and so am I. Sometimes it feels like she's flirting with me, but I don't know if I'm just seeing what I want to see. I'll give some examples..

1. Sometime's we have that sort of, sexual tension eye contact. She even got a little flustered and laughed to herself once while we were doing it. Sometimes we look at each other and both widen our eyes.. I don't know why! It's just this weird thing we do. Maybe to stop the nervousness of the fact that we're sitting there staring at each other.

2. She's smiled at me from across the room a couple of times.

3. She comes up to me and starts poking me on the arms and tummy etc with her fingers.. She's smiling while she does it.

4. We've gone out for coffee outside of school, just us two, three times. She stopped me mid walk once when we were leaving the coffee place and asked for a hug!

5. We often have really long, emotional hugs. I was cold in a ball waiting for the bus once and she just sat there holding me, then when she got up she ran her hands really slowly across my back. Then I got up and we stood there hugging for a long time.

6. I was sitting on our school trip van. I was tired so I was sort of just lying there with a lot of leg showing. Then we had this long stare at each other but she kept glancing from my legs to my face.

And there's probably mean a lot more signs that I've forgot to mention. It's just the look in her eyes sometimes.

I do have a crush on her. It's like I've fallen for the idea of how fun this relationship could be and her beautiful personality. But I just have no idea whether she likes me or not. These are pretty strong signs, but then other times it's like she's in her own little world and there's no room for me. I just don't know whether to give up or take the next step. I've been heartbroken by older women in the past, but they were straight and I was under 16. I'm just scared of the pain coming back into my life and don't know what to think. What should I do? Advice and opinions would be greatly appreciated! x

My question is.. Do you think she's attracted to me or even likes me?

Yes 40
I don't know 21
No 9

  • Lesbians don't grow on trees, she'll have to take what she can get.

I think alot of women realise how well penises fit into vaginas or something.

I think you should wait until SHE makes the first move or keep hinting you like her without actually telling her. since you are both girls she probably really enjoys the flirting but she's probably just as unsure as you are about you liking her if she does like you, like the person said above that lesbians don't just grow on trees so if a girl (as you probably know) finds another girl that likes girls than she'll take a chance and see if there are feelings there. The age difference might be actually a good thing for her considering she just got out of a 10 year relationship, right? I'd love to know what happens!

    • Well, I got the courage to kiss her on the cheek and she looked so happily surprised. She made this excitable "mmm" sound, then hugged me. :-)

It's weird how when I first read it and it was assumably 17 year old guy, and a 41 year old woman, I instantly thought. NOPE, it's all in your head buddy. But When I read a little further and it was two girls, I was like.. possible.

I think you need to find someone your own age. You're not even 18 yet, so it's completely illegal. And if she were to like you, that would be pedophile status. Even when you become overage, that's still mondo creepy. Look for someone your own age. Older men and women want different things compared to younger men and women.

Also, if you can't see the problem with developing a relationship with someone 24 years older than you, just think of when you become a parent, or if you have or had a younger sibling. Would you be happy if they developed something with someone 24 years older than them?

    • I'm over 16 so technically speaking, it isn't illegal. I do see your point, but personally, depending on the individuals and the situation I don't have a problem with age difference.

16 is the age of consent with anyone under 18 only. Once you turn 18, THEN it's anyone 18 or older as well. If someone who is 19 has sex with someone who is 16, they could be charged for statutory rape. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

And of course, you are your own person. If you feel comfortable with it, and think it's right for you, then go for it. Just be careful. :)

Sounds like she likes you. She might feel strange about the age difference though. I think you should talk to her and clearly state your feelings. If she doesn't want to take it to the next level, it is probably for your sake, for she will die long before you, most likely, leaving you with an empty heart. But love conquers all. good luck

    She definitely likes you.

I think you should take the chance and explain your feelings towards her.

Then, take your time. Don't rush into things, take the next step when you feel comfortable.

        Good Luck:)
