Does love at first sight exist?

Can some really fall in love with someone they've never met before at after first sight?

If you've fallen in love at first sight before, I've love it if you would tell us about it: who it was with, how old you were, what happened next...

Celebrity crushes don't count, because almost everyone has had them :)

Yes, and I've fallen in love at first sight before. 40
Yes, but I've never experienced it myself. 22
Yes, but it can't last or lead to a healthy relationship. 5
No, it's not possible. Real love takes more time than that. 55
No, I don't believe in love at all. 9

What's created with ease, is destroyed with ease.

I dunno, it's not too hard to get herpes.

I wouldn't call that creation so much as perpetuation- just because you have a Phil Collins CD (almost as deadly as herpes) and you gave it to a friend, does that mean you created the Phil Collins CD?

Regardless, it had the good fortune of the appearance of truth and perception of truth has always triumphed over the actuality of it.

Although what you said goes a long way in explaining the ease by which it is to destroy vs. the hardships of those who seek to preserve.

    Love requires trust.
    Trust requires time.

      And time requires love.

        Time does not require love.
        People require love.
        Time requires space and massenergy.

Space and massenergy require a creator.
But who or what does the creator require?

I don't think that it does. I once saw a girl and thought I would like her. It then lead to love but it took some time.

I was fifteen when this 17 year old GOD walked into my drama class. I fell in love with him immediately. Immediately.

It's been five years and I still have such strange feelings.

Personally, i think it does. (Yes, i am speaking out of experience)

Yes it happens. It happened to me. And it isn't some temporary thing, it lasted for years. And it isn't lust either.

People confuse 4 letter L words. Lust is NOT love. True love. Real genuine love takes time to cultivate, it stands the test of time and trials of life. The term 'I love you' is grossly misused, and too often at that.

I call it infatuation. But if you're lucky that can turn into love over time. Sometimes you can just tell you'll get along with a person by the look of them, so I guess its a feeling that sticks if your instincts were right.
Still though, I classify it was infatuation at first, not love. So no, no such thing in my eyes

I fell in love with my current boyfriend at 1st sight 4years ago in cafeteria class :P High school feels so long ago!!! But I knew right off the bat that I had to get to know him, he was so shy though, it took another 2 years to get together, but the spark was always there, and he loved me back!!! He said he liked me since he layed eyes on me as well, so that's my love at 1st sight story. Turns out personality wise we're a great match to :)

Attraction at first sight, yes. Love doesn't truly exist and is only an emergent property when two individuals are attracted to each other.

Physical attraction happens at first sight, I wouldn't qualify that as love.

I wouldn't say either love or lust, but I do believe that as humans, we have the ability to know whether or not that person is going to be special in out life or not. Lust? Maybe. Love? Possible. But to actually fall in love, it would take some time.

What lolada said. Sometimes I'd like to believe it to be true, but its gotta be lust, because love is something that needs time to grow. It could start out as lust and then grow into love with time.

It has to be lust at first sight. How can you have love and trust with someone you don't know!

    • Exactly, how the hell can you know anything about someone by looking at them?!?

Unless she is Emma Watson, then I believe in love at first sight. Figured I would clarify that one!

        • See I dont mind Emma Watson, but she looks kinda like an elf to me or Tinkerbell or something, esp with that short hair. She's definitely cute, but give me a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model anyday, ANY OF THEM.

Lolz that is just a difference of preference. I would take the Sports Illustrated models as well, but still prefer Emma Watson!

If lust is shared mutually in a glance, there can be a romanticism of that similar to a feeling of love. But true love, in my opinion is lasting love formed over time, throughout adversity and ill health.

Maybe not love but more like enfatuation...thats what I went trough recently. Wont tell you the long story but basically I dont think love at first sight would be accurate.

Depends. I wouldn't really call it love, but more like lust. To fall in love with someone all aspects of that person (emotional, psychical, etc) need to be addressed not just appearance based only.
