By this I mean does society view this as something only women do? I mean I mostly see women doing it but is it socially acceptable for dudes to do it? So does wearing them this way say that you are female? Kind of like boy-tie in hair is how females wear it and bow-tie on neck is how guys wear it.

I tend to associate it with preppy golfers and the like. I am not fond of the look. In terms of guys in general, I don't recall it looking feminine to me.
