Does income/economic class influence who you date?

I've lived within the upper class for all of my life and wouldn't even think of dating anyone lower than myself. I'm very materialistic, and financially obsessive, but don't consider that a bad thing, I'd do best with someone else who shares my ideology.
I'm 22 and male, I'm not exactly interested in dating atm, just looking for opinions.
How does someone's finanial background effect your attraction to them? Their own? Their parents?
How do you view those who use wealth to drive their relationships?

    Being in the 1%, I find that it does not matter so much what a 1%er women's net worth is, as much as what her attitude is toward the net worth she has. If she has no sense of the processes and business knowledge required to manage her liquid assets, or family business then that speaks very poorly for her. Knowledge of economics, statistics, and finance is expected among the high net worth crowd.

    Of course, there are smart talented women in the lower 99% that have MBA degrees. But even if these women have pilot licenses, their horizons are limited which excludes them from my pool of interest.

      Nobody, and I mean NOBODY should be considering a marriage to anyone who is not at least bringing something close to what they are financially to that same marriage. Male or female. Sure on average men have a higher net worth so naturally this would apply more to men (for which I will now get downvoted for saying) but the legal system is set up to penalize those that have it and reward those that do not.

    There will no doubt be comments from people telling you what a shallow douche you are but the fact is it's very normal to date those with similar status. It's not common for people to marry outside of their socioeconomic class. What I find a little odd is your deliberate avoidance of dating someone in a lower class. I think it's not typical to date outside your class simply due to a cultural separation. Someone who hangs out at the country club pool sipping Daiquiris isn't going to associate, intentionally or not, with someone chugging malt liquor out of a paper bag by the dollar store. Likewise, financial advisors don't find love behind the register at Wendy's. The vast majority of people don't make a decision, consciously anyway, not to date someone making less money than they do. So, while not dating outside your class is normal your intentional avoidance is not.
