Does florida feel like a different country from the rest of america?

I've heard people tell me, who have been to southern Florida, that the place, especially Miami, doesn't feel american. Going to Miami feels like going to another country. Is this true? Is southern Florida that different?

Yeah. it feels like a different country 10
Nah, it feels american 10

I can only think about that joke in 30 rock.

“Have you ever been to Florida? It’s basically an all criminal population. It’s America’s Australia...”

Been to Florida a few times. The capital Tallahassee and north part of Florida is completely different. Would not surprise me to see the same thing happen in Florida as Oregon and California have talked about.
Dividing into 2 states north and south or east west. It makes sense because they're so divided and different.

I enjoy the fact that their police arrest records are open to the public so we get gems like "flordia man attacks wendy drive thru with alligator"

South Florida feels more like a hispanic country. North Florida just feels like a continuation of Georgia, though.

100% it did for me. There was a big culture shock. A lot of people speak spanish. And one thing I noticed is there is a lot of gay people there. It felt like the whole city was a gay club when I went. I was 18 and in really good shape and I got wolf whistled and cat called by men. I dont think thats even legal in my state.

I was telling someone this on discord and they basically told me im a bigot but I actually looked it up and a lot of gay people do move there because theres a huge gay community and its the gayest city in America. There was also really hot lesbians. Ive never seen hot lesbians like that before so that was actually nice but getting hit on by men kind of ruined it for me.

I've visited almost all parts of Florida; and I every state in America except Alaska and Hawaii, and the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico which are US Possessions.

Florida is very American... Not anything like the 12+ foreign countries I have visited. Different parts feel different; but you run into similar differences across many states; not to mention the US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

Lol. Yeah, that’s why they call places “little Italy” and so on. It’s Where Cuban people flee to. As an American, go for it. People who are willing to navigate and swim in some cases. Yes. I want those people on my side.

The 4 corners of the country could easily be their own countries in terms of general politics.

It's a little different in South Florida, yes.
