Does common sense sex resolve most concerns expressed here?

The bottom line on the multitude of sex rules seem to be based on not bringing handicapped or unwanted children in to this world and guarding against STDs.
Sex is greatest God's gift to the world.
For Gods sake let's enjoy it as much as we can with (any) consenting adult within the boundaries of consideration of others and common sense.

Everyone should enjoy sex. I don't see what the whole big deal is.

I don't think sex is a "gift", all animals do it, even plants do it in their own special way.

There are rules so that people don't get taken advantage of or hurt.

You believe in God. That makes you stupid.

    • I don't believe in god. OP believes in god. What's the difference? We both enjoy sex (or in my case sex-related activities because I'm a virgin) and agree on practising responsible sex. It doesn't make OP any smarter than I am, considering the little information we have about OP.

Now YOU are an idiot for calling others stupid just because they believe in god. It's a choice, so please, fuck off.

you believe that the complexities of this world, down to molecular structure happened by chance...YOU are stupid. And, btw...you're also in the minority. 90% of americans will not vote for a president without a faith system (belief in God). You do have a God, you just think he's YOU.

  • I don't really care what goes on in other people's houses, it's none of my damn business. As long as nobody (or nothing) gets hurt in the process, it's all good.

Most rules are the result of "common sense", or they would never have formed. Some of them are not relavent in today's world, but many are. We would all brake them if we thought they were pointless.

All rules are based on consenting adults with the consideration of others, and we should obey those rules. What other rules exist are there that remain unbroken that you are referring to?

I don't believe that common sense even exists. If it did, we would all obey it and we would have no problems.

I think it exists, you said yourself that most rules come from common sense.

Maybe it existed in the past, but not any longer.

Before we had multi-culturalism, all a person would be likely to meet would be people in the same situation and from the same background as themselves. Therefore, we would only meet people who had very similar life experiences, and hence similar beliefs. Therefore we would share the same "common sense" as people we run into. One could be forgiven for thinging that everyone on the planet had a similar thought process.

Now, in a multi-cultural age, we come into contact every day with people from an entirely different backgroud to ourselves, with very different life experiences and up-bringing. These people might have entirely different thought processes.

I doubt that there is a single belief imaginable which everyone in the world has in common. Therefore, no common sense. However, rules made in the "era of common sense" still exist today, they are only just being broken down because of factors like the media and multi-culturalism bringing us into contact with a wide range of people.

I agree with you and the article. I just dislike it when people say that something doesn't exist when it does. The definition doesn't say anything about how many people have to think it in order for it to be true...:D

            :D

I enjoyed reading that. It makes a lot of sense to me. The part about making judgements by asking a lot of people interested me, because that is pretty much the point of IIN.

Definitions are both neccessary and really annoying. A definion ought to be entirely conclusive and based on facts. We either take my definition of common sense (everybody thinks) or the article's (no number offered). Neither is any more true, in my opinion, because mine is exhaustive but not substanciated and the article is substanciated but not exhaustive.
