Does anybody else think money is a delusion and that we're all pawns?

I can't believe that the world is full of people convinced they need money to live, the commerce system is insane and obviously unsustainable (depressions and recessions...), its obviously just a bunch of arbitrary quantities made up by the people in power so that they can stay there. How many more trillions can the power hungriest of us pull out of their asses? What happens when our money won't be worth anything anymore? All I see in the future is mass exodus and an ugly and violent reversion back to a barter system. We all need to buy gold and become trade workers.

I feel crazy because everybody else lives in their self sedated positivity fogs trying to make the best of the circumstances they're too hapless to even consider changing.

Our freedom is also a delusion because we're subjected to structures of false consciousness and inauthentic crap that the has forced us into predetermined roles which forcibly take freedom from us in exchange for illegitimate and uncertain security.

Am I making any sens? I am wrong to be keep the continuation of the species at heart? With the mass extinction, the carrying capacity issues, not to mention the tragedy of the commons... All things point to the end 20 to 50 years from now. The whole species is suffering from homicidal ignorance. I don't see a way out. Is it normal to think this way?

money is nothing more than a way to represent the amount of work you have done for your society and exchange that for goods and services. without money, food and other tradable goods and services would be exchanges for other goods and services. money just makes it more convenient.

Money only makes it more convenient for as long its a tangible method of transmuting said value for the purposes of convenience. Ever heard of stagflation? That is the current state of our economic globe. We're digging a whole with no bottom. Sorry to burst your conditioned bubble, I do hope I've succeeded on some level...

the commerce system has been around for over 5000 years , its hard to call something that we all use everyday "obviously unsustainable" .. its a system of trade , not a resource, so its actually one of the only truely sustainable things we have.

anyways whats the point of your post ? to say were all doomed in 20 or 50 years ? why are we doomed ? what other system should we all be using.

We're domed because the very notion of capital has become void. There is no amount of capital, there is not enough of worth on earth to equal the dollars that have been created. Unless we really are just owned by the people in power.

The point of this post is to A) determine if I'm nuts and B)Trying to rationalize why all the pieces of the puzzle are there and yet nobody sees where we're really heading.

The only way for us to survive in the long run with happiness for all is revolution to authoritarian benevolent communism; carefully selected global philanthropists and geniuses should be in charge and real equal sharing amongst the glob may happen, its not like we don't have the technology... We could do it if it wasn't for the hopelessness of power structures and the sated nature of most masses. An example to concertize: Global hunger, we only have a global food distribution problem because the power relations are keeping those resources from being mobilized, pure and simple. We just need to take charge and force the mobilization, it's obvious that the people in power are barely human and can't do it.

I guess I'm a fatalist, because I just don't see people waking up in time. I wish we could do anarchy, but that's hopeless too. Real anarchy will never work simply because we can't start from the bottom in something with even as little structure as people: people have an ultimately psychotic structure. This is why can't overcome the division between individual and collective rationality. I think it's hopeless baring my revolution scenario.

Please let me know what you think,

      Thanks for reading.

Considering that most of the population has turned into robots that are so concerned with their everyday, convoluted schedules...they don't "have time" to sit and reflect on their lives, why they do what they do, where the world is headed, and what's causing it to go in that direction. Some simply don't want to think about it. So no, it's not quite "normal" to think that way, but I must say I like the way you think...this is one of those good types of topics that make my brain hurt. lol =]

I definitely agree with the hole with no bottom metaphor. Sadly, it may already be too deep to get out of.

Littleeshee sounds like a push over. :).

YOU ARE NORMAL MEL! Are you kidding its everyone else who've become some warped, disillusioned version of human beings. If you look at the way that the world, nature, was created, you can be sure that it didn't have capitalism in mind.

You sound like you've made up your mind Mel, have you? Personally it came as an epiphany to me one day looking around downtown and I said "what if we're all wrong, what if all of this is just wrong?" And I've never looked back since. You've got to look forward like your doing. Like Ghandi said: "Be the change that you want to see in the world".

      Thanks Bababo,

At least I'm not the only one who sees that the planet is just sitting in its own crap, because its nice and warm here... I'm just angry because of who I am and how much money my parents make I got filled into a vacuous discipline that tells me that its my job to go wipe other peoples asses for them because they're clearly incapable of doing it themselves....

I can't be the change I want to see because I could careless about the lemmings now, off the cliff they go to drown in their sinking culture, I'm not picking up anybody else's garbage anymore.

We can't just go around replacing everything with ourselves and hiding behind our homicidal cognitive dissonance. I'm going to hide out and publish under pseudonyms because I can't stand the inauthentic crap the people that the people in my culture are rolling in.

      You should read this book:
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ishmael_%28novel%29

It's awesome, and if you're having these thoughts too it can only help.

Thank you for your thoughts :)
