Does anybody else get moments like this?

So sometimes I'll stare at something and if I concentrate on it, I sort of realize it's real.
Like, I'll look down at my hand and I'll think 'wow, I'm alive. wow my hand is real. wow I'm a person' and I just get this really weird feeling that just strikes through me for a few moments. It's hard to explain and I've never told anyone, but I don't do it all the time. I can only do it at certain times, and I have no idea what it is.
Is this normal? I've been looking for an explanation for years.

Honestly, I do this too. Except I'll also look at my surroundings, what time it is on the clock, or look in the mirror. It gives me an odd feeling inside. Sometimes that odd feeling is mixed with happiness, sometimes it's mixed with no emotion whatsoever.

  • Yeah, I think I know what you're meaning. Like when you'll just look at your hand and watch it move, realizing how weird it is, that something is even possible to exist, and so on? Like that?

I believe it is called "sondering", based on the overall definition of the word sonder. It's completely normal-I do it often. Usually late at night after the adderall wears off, but still.

    Sonder definition:

Yes. Pretty often and it can be a really weird feeling sometimes.

I do the same exact thing. It's crazy to think about it. It's kind of like grasping the idea of life or living. Or reality itself.

I'm not sure if it's normal as in the majority has this experience, but I don't think it's a problem. Philosophy class just suits us. xD

I used to do that before I started taking supplements for my brain health.
