Do you view marijuana the same as you view alcohol

I'm curious about this community's perspective on marijuana. So I'm asking a question about how you guys view pot compared to alcohol.

Marijuana is way worse! 28
Marijuana and alcohol are equal 22
Marijuana is way less harmful than alcohol 100
I use both equally so fuck it! 9

Not even in the same league at all.

It's ridiculous to me that it's still illegal.

Everything in moderation! Doing either on a daily basis for a prolonged period WILL damaged you! During a decade of daily smoking i didn't think it was having much of an effect on me, just relaxed me, but after a decade of controlling my emotions with a substance I realised I didn't know how to control the emotions myself! As much as I loved smoking weed I don't miss it now! The haze has lifted n I made changes in my life. One if the worst things about smoking it is it makes you feel ok about things you shouldn't feel ok about! Like a shit relationship, doing nothing with your life, being depressed etc all seem 'ok' when your mashed!

No, I view marijuana as green and solid. Alcohol I view as liquid and various colors.

i think they are similar in a sense that they both produce a state of intoxication or sedation, but alcohol is statistically and physiologically far worse for most people.

I'm not sure how worse it is to your brain, but marihuana is definitely worse in general because you smoke it, and there is no denying that any kind of smoke is bad for you. Now, if you are talking about eating the seeds, then I really wouldn't know, nor do I care that much, I prefer actual happiness over the chemically-induced anyway.

Yes, that is why results from a study show that twenty years of moderate joint smoking have no ill effect on the human lung. Seriously look it up, it's proven. You can choose not to believe it, but that doesn't change the fact it was proven. And Tommy Chong cured himself of cancer by being healthy and using weed. That's also a fact!

That doesn't make any sense and you know it. Let's try and apply logic: do you believe that 20 years of inhaling the fumes of burning paper would have no ill effect on the human lung? It's smoke, you don't need a PhD in order to figure it out. So, what you are suggesting is that the burning weed inside the paper cigarette may, not only produce some kind of "neutral smoke", but also somehow compensate for the damage of the smoke coming from the paper wrapping.

Smoke is smoke, for fuck's sake. All this supposed research is just like all those studies that say that sperm is good for the skin, that swallowing it makes an effective natural antidepressant, or that it helps pregnant women reduce morning sickness "because it helps them assimilate what's already inside them". Do you really not see the interest that lies behind these claims?

Still, it's your health, you are free to do with it whatever the fuck you want, but don't come and say smoking may be good or bad for you depending on the herb inside the cigarette, because that just plain stupid.

Marijuana has long term effects (loss of memory, increases risk of Alzheimer's) but its ridiculous that alcohol is illegal when it causes so much more damage.

You can DIE after using alcohol for a prolonged time, and also experience "delerium tremens." A person needs to go to a detox and be monitored if they get alcohol poisoning or go on "benders" for days. Marijuana is a much better option, in my opinion. It makes us think-opens our minds. Of course, pot does stay in our systems for thirty days-that's what sucks. Pot is safer, and it should not be illegal. Pot should be regulated by the government to ensure that it is the real stuff that has no bad added chemicals to it. (That is another problem with weed-asshole dealers add BAD chemicals to it like embalming fluid.) Be careful and always know your source. Booze is legal, and is the #1 drug that kills people. Believe it! It's glamourized on t.v., but ruins people's lives like my ex...and it almost ruined mine being around it!

There has NEVER been a single case in 10,000 years of person dying from marijuana. I don't even need to drudge up statistics on alcohol and alcohol related deaths, suicides, fights and crimes to make my point here.

I don't like to be the person who says this, but if you voted that marijuana is more dangerous then alcohol:
YOU ARE LITERALLY A FUCKING IDIOT. Literally.

Ever heard of medical alcohol being prescribed to patients? How about tobacco?

Pssh. Marijuana's only illegal Cuz the gov wudnt be able to regulate it as well to make money off it. And to conspirators, b/c it's not that harmful (compared to the legal booze and cigarettes) to kill us and depopulate.

Well I love getting smashed and smoke cannabis every now and then and obviously cannabis is less bad for your health than alcohol. Hangovers suck balls. But I'd say I enjoy drinking more than smoking because it's more of a fun social thing to do with friends and it usually results in much more interesting nights out than cannabis does.

You can't get hooked to marijuana, whereas with alcohol you easily can. I'd blaze it any day.

hahahaha this myth... marihuana not being addictive. You know you don't believe it, so stop saying it. There's nothing that's not addictive. You can get hooked on sugar. Anything that gives you any pleasure, you can get hooked on it, and everyone damn well knows it.

You are wrong. Someone can develop a dependency on something, not an addiction. They are two medically different terms. Marijuana is non-addictive but can create a dependency.

I'm not a doctor but Wikipedia redirects the search for "dependence" to "behavioral addiction". You may be interested in reading that article, basically it says that it's pretty much the same as a regular addiction, the only difference being what triggers them.

        Please don't speak for me.

Marijuana is known as a recreational drug. You can't get hooked because it's a drug with very few withdrawal symptoms and there's no property in it that makes you get hooked. Hot-boxing isn't an effective method to get a stronger high from marijuana because the drug is potent when smoked, not smelled.

Alcohol is much worse. It pleases your brain with the release of endorphins. Drink more than usual and the onset of this hormone lessens. A person becomes hooked because not enough endorphins are being released; they highly depend on alcohol to feel normal. That's why there's binge drinking, hence why it's addictive and marijuana isn't. Think of marijuana as a 'in the moment' drug, whereas alcohol isn't so forgiving.

As with sugar, those are cravings. You're crazy if you think that sugar is addictive, let alone trying to make a comparison between drinking/drugs and food.

        It's a shame that you're ignorant.

You can drink alcohol that exact same way, as an "in the moment" drug. If you do it moderately and every once in a while, you will certainly not become addicted. That whole "booze being worse than weed" stuff is made up as a self-justification. They are both substances that will make you feel better for a while, then worse for a while, at the expense of your brain cells. One you smoke, one you drink. Which is more effective, or less damaging? I don't know.

Booze being worse than weed is a proven fact.
Marijuana stimulates braincell growth, alchohol is a poison that damages and kills cells at an exponential rate. Have you ever actually smoked marijuana before? Because it has never made me feel worse than I felt before I smoked it. Hangovers from alcohol cause nausea, migraines, headaches, vomiting, dizziness, dehydration, and a host of other symptoms.

Worst symptom I've ever had from weed? A dry mouth. Quickly rectified by a drink of water.
