Do you think women should fight frontline in the armed forces?

I believe women have just as much right to fight frontline as men and should be given the opportunity to have the same roles within the army, navy & RAF. What's your opinion?

Women SHOULD be allowed 112
Women SHOULD NOT be allowed 44

  • If they can do it physically then ofcourse they should be alowed. If they want to do something like that and are capable then who is anyone to say they can't?

But we have to admit that the majority of women are not as good as men are at warfare, therefore it would a big expense to test women and find the few who are actually suitable for frontline

I said no for a very good reason. I also happen to be in the army and i know from personal experience. I have to female rangers in my division both are excellent marksman as well except for one problem. There are a couple guys i have seen who have nearly gotten their heads blown off trying to get a quick glance at their ass. I'm disgusted with their lack of discipline but that's the army for you. However a recent military study showed that female snipers had a higher hit ratio then male snipers because they had more patience and paced their shots. Also a mile back from the front-lines they can give us support without the distraction.

Unfortunetly more than a few members of my division (like) aggressive women and even with military discipline cant help getting distracted on the battlefield looking at our Corporal's ass. More than a few of my men have had enough (close calls) to prove this statement. Frankly the only time i like it when my wife is aggressive is in bed.

I don't think gender should be a factor in that decision, if the person has the skills needed to be in the frontline then they should be there, regardless of whether it's a man or woman.

If a woman isn't as skilled, she shouldn't be there or it's a risk to herself and others; which is exactly the same for men.

Women don't even have a chance to volunteer to be on the frontline. Being denied the opportunity to serve your country is very insulting.

In Iraq and Afghanistan there are some women on the front line, but only because no one is sure how to define "front line" in places like those. Australia is going to allow women on to the front line soon (still not allowed to be a part of the elite), maybe some other countries will follow that lead. At least we're moving forward.

Not to offend men but I read some research years ago which suggested women make better front-line soldiers than men. They were better shots, their judgement was more accurate, and they hesitated less before killing someone who needed killing.

It's weird to think of a world where women are out there defending men, but hey, if they're better at it, wouldn't we want the best defending our countries?

That was well said, and I can believe it. The Israeli Defense Force is one of the world's elite military forces, and not only do women make up frontline combat positions, but interestingly enough, military service is compulsory for women in Israel.

  • Obviously yes. People who say no are not thinking right. Nuff said.

I agree with you but why are people who hold a differing opinion "Not thinking right"?

      • Because I'm sure some people are thinking women should not be allowed to be in front line. Not because they're women that they can't do the same thing a man can do. Just look at the kitchen comments. Those guys basically say their role should be in a kitchen when a woman should be able to do what she wants. Being frontline included. Also not letting them be frontline is sexist in my point of view but that's how I see things.

You're right. Keeping women away from the front lines (at least from the American POV) means less pay for women in uniform, plus lower chances for promotions, decorations (medals), and (for female officers) lower chances of being appointed as a command officer.

What's the worst that can happen with women in frontline combat positions? Women seem to have done well enough in former Soviet and modern day Israeli armed forces.

I recently read an article written by a medium ranking female soldier in the army, discussing the hardships she had faced but, more importantly, the physical toll long term deployment had taken, and was taking, on her body. Several years in the field had left her with numerous physical ailments, such as back and leg problems, or suddenly being unable to stand. Female soldiers are so relatively new in combat that there are no long term studies or research on the topic of it's physical effects, and based on her experience, she believed that the military needed to be more hesitant in promoting women to hard wearing, front line roles in the name of equality until more information about it's long term effects was ascertained

I'd say speciality roles: Designated Marks(wo)man, some sort of CQB unit, Sniper/Spotter, etc... Stuff where the smaller frame and shock value of a female soldier might be an asset.

  • The women on the frontline would know all the dangers and would be there by choice... Also if they were pregnant the woman would then leave the services for a few months(maybe 1 year) I think that is the main reason MoD doesn't want women on the front.

I know it may come off as sexist but its not at least to me. But I do not think women should be in the front lines. If to only protect them from the horrors of war. Women are more emotional than men and I think that they (generally speaking) not be able to handle the true brutality of war. Not to say men can't handle it either I mean war is fucking hell. I would just rather have a man have his head fucked rather than a women.

Not only should they be allowed, they should be required to sign the draft card. Feminists bitch constantly about not having equal pay, and being treated differently, but it's a simple fact that women don't have the upper body strength to pass most of the physical endurance challenges they put u through in basic training. They should have 100% equal opportunity and requirement as men in our society.

It would be to our advantage, some rival would be like, MAN CHECK OUT THAT CHICK! and then Bam! HE gets shot in the head, and then goes strait to hell for having his last thought be a dirty one, just one of the many reasons why Its okay!

    Comment Hidden ( show )
  • Hell yea. If they meet the same requirements as men then I don't see why not.

  • If they are so large and masculine that they can meet the same physical requirements the men have to, then sure. Definitely not my kind of lady though.

Yeah, let em die like the rest of us. Mind you, it's not necessarily sound tactics if manpower is a problem and you expect the war to go on for a long time.

In such a case, the women should be kept safe for reproduction purposes. A few men can impregnate quite a lot of women and not the other way around and they need to be kept safe while pregnant for the safety of the child as well.
