If your goal is to hit it and quit it, it might not make you a great person, but it won't really be a big deal. Though I wouldn't consider a lie intended to manipulate a person a white lie. A white lie is pretending you forgot someone's birthday on the way to their suprise party, or saying she doesn't look fat in a dress to spare her feelings. It's something you say for the other persons benefit, not your own.

But if you are looking for a relationship, or feelings might develop, it's a bad idea. Going to be hard to explain why Johnny Depp didn't respond to the RSVP on your birthday invitation, or how you aged 6 years in the first year of your relationship.

Also, do straight guys really lie to woman that they sleep with lots of women, and do women really consider that a plus?

    • If a guy was bragging to me about how many females he's been with, that would be a huge turn off. I'm not really sure what male would even consider doing that.

      • Seriously? Around me that's the norm. I know guys who take pictures on their cell phone of the girl after doing the deed.

Now I don't do this sort of thing and never brag about anything, but plenty of guys behave like this. It's the male stereotype of having to be "hyper" sexual.

Yes but is he showing those pics to his guy friends and bragging to them? Or is he showing them to girls he is trying to get with and bragging to them? I normally observe that it's guys bragging to guys. I don't know a lot of guys that meet a girl at a bar, pull out a bunch of pics of other girls and say to her "look at all the girls I banged ".

          • No, it's other guys of course.

You'd be surprised, some women don't mind a guy with a reputation. In my experience a lot of women have flocked to a guy like that. Now a classy woman wouldn't give a guy like this the time of day, but plenty of classless women out there.

            • If a guy was bragging to me about that I'd laugh and just walk away and never look back. Now them bragging to their guy friends is a different thing. Girls do that as well.

Yea, that's what I was thinking.

  • no. Lie is a lie. Why can't people just be upfront and honest. Why lie about something as stupid as saying you enjoy watching football when you don't. And if my partner had such a problem with me not liking football why would I want to be with that person anyways. Honesty is the best damn policy.

I think it's time whites stop telling lies.

I think if it's a personal question from an almost stranger and you don't feel like explaining the whole damn story as an answer, you just tell them what they want to hear so you can go on your way.
Lying about what you like or don't like though, there's not really any good reason for it.

I wouldn't call those white lies, those are bold faced lies. A white lie is like when someone asks, "does this make my butt look big", and I say, "no you're fine".

Or saying, "Hey baby, I love a nice ass." When you actually don't give a fuck. You just want to get slapped.

I usually only do it if someone asks me something extremely personal way too soon. I'll just give a white lie to satisfy them. Then if I get to trust them more I will tell them the truth.

A lot of those don't really sound like little things, they sound like lies that could cause some serious problems down the road. "Oh no I really am 18!" *Gets arrested* "I love football!" *Never wants to watch football* "I've slept with so many people I lost count!" *Intimidates the other person, pushing them away*

Misrepresenting the truth or painting a rosy picture of things is normal, but those example lies were stretching the truth a bit too much. I wouldn't trust someone who had lied about those things and I don't think it's normal.

Absolutely not. Not for any reason or under any circumstances.
