Do you think this situation is illogical?

In many parts of the world, the age of consent is 16 but the age at which one can be in porn is 18. That means if you have sex with a 16-year-old that's fine but if you take a picture of them naked you're abusing them and will spend a long time in prison and the rest of your life a registered sex offender. Should this change?

No, it's fine as is 15
Yes, the age of consent should be raised to the age one can be in porn 22
Yes, the age one can be in porn should be lowered to age of consent 10

    It seems fine as it is IMO, and the reason is this:

    Having sex is one thing, but being filmed/photographed doing it, and then those images being sent to anyone on the internet is a very different thing. There is nothing wrong with porn as a medium, but until you are 18 you're privacy is inherently more protected by law.

    This is just my gut reaction, though, and I would like to hear some other sides of the argument.

      Not sure you'll get too much disagreement there. I'll add to your argument too. The age of consent is there to protect minors. Being coerced into sex is bad enough but being coerced into porn (where there is an immutable, embarrassing record of it that will exist and may become known to your family/friends at any point in your life) is worse.

    If you have to be 18 to buy and X rated movie then you should be 18 to star in one.

    yeah, also strippers can be 18, so they can get naked in the bar but they can't go to the same bar and have a drink. Being a stripper they are more prone to being exploited in my opinion.

    its a very fine line but I do not think a 18 and 17 or 16 year old relationship is pedophilea.

    Did you know a 16 yearold can have sex with anyone and not get in trouble but if a 18 has sex with them even if it was there boyfreind years befire 18 they get a sex offence. if a child falsifys documents and someone unwitingly agrees to have them in a pornk they are pedophiles. I do not encourage porn or underage teens to have sex but really what is wrong with these standards? at 18 you can smoke and work full time but can not drink yet sign for the militery and doctor but cant drink or serve drinks till 21 taking away more job opurtunitys.

    I think all that is stupid. Did you know at 17 you can biy yourself a raded R ticket and have to be 18 to buy it for others. Or now which they changes you have to have papers to prove your there legal gardian or are age 17. Than at 17 a minor can beat someone iu p and get away with it but if they attack a 18 by law that 18 can not defend themselves.

    I think if you took a private picture of your lover and kept it for yourself, logically, that's a token of a loved one. Porn is the public display of sex for an unknown audience.

    Eww and isn't there a state where the age of consent is 14? It's 12 in some parts of the world. You can lower the age that people can appear in pornos to the age of consent. Gross.

    foco has a good point. how silly would it be to be able to make the porn but not be able to buy a copy of what you made?

    I think it's fine. Sometimes people agree to let someone take pictures of them naked as long as they promise to keep it to themselves. However, a lot of times the person who took the pictures leak them on the internet or send them to other people. Many girls have committed suicide over being humiliated once their pictures were leaked. However, if they want to have sex, then that's more of a private thing that you can always deny if you are ashamed of it. I don't think the age for porn should be any lower, as this law protects people and gives them privacy.

    I also don't think the age of consent for sex should be any higher, because very few people actually wait until age 18 to have sex. Making it illegal is just going to cause a lot more problems for everyone. While I don't agree with a lot of laws, I believe this one should kept how it is.
