Do you think this article is accurate?
I heard from one of my friends that science has shown that the sexes of your siblings and your birth order affect things that matter later in life like your personality. As the youngest of three brothers and sometimes feeling like I lost the lottery because of it, I was interested enough in the idea to look for info online. I found an article that details how your birth order can supposedly affect your love life. I don't think article is really the right word because the site it's on is weird but you know what I mean.
I almost ignored it because it was on a site with links to spirituality poppycock, so I was expecting it to be just as fake and meaningless as astrological signs. But I gave it a read anyway and had another think. It explains its claims in ways that seem plausible, and even though it doesn't provide any links to psychological science studies or any other reputable source, and it's followed by links to silly articles about how yoga will allow you to have sex with someone's soul while aging in reverse, its claims seem logical enough. Claims like older siblings wanting to be in control or that children with siblings of the opposite sex understand the opposite sex better certainly pass the sniff test.
But I'm not convinced it's wholly correct and that some of the details aren't just flat out wrong. Mostly, I think it might be exaggerating the effects birth order has on personality. I'm not as unpredictable and adventurous as it says a younger brother of brothers should be. It seems to suggest that the best group of siblings is a firstborn brother with a younger sister, with the boy fawning over and protecting his little sister while she charms and empathizes with him, which sounds a bit too much like romanticized fiction to me. Maybe it's just me, but both the big brother-little sister pairs I know are both jerks, to each other and everyone I know. But I want to see what other people here would say.
