Do you think there is someone out there for everyone?

So do you believe it when people say "Oh he's/she's out there for you." Like there really is this one person that's meant to be with you?? I don't know but to me it just seems like that's our main goal in life--to find that one person. What if we don't find them? What if he/she dies before we meet? Or viseversa..I never really understood or believed in fate, but I'm just curious on what you believe.. So what do you think?

There are six billion people in this world, odds are that you're compatible a good number of them. In a world this vast there cannot be just one person out there for someone.

Many of them are children, not your gender of interest (or they're not interested in your gender,) severe drug addicts, murderers, too old for you, not attractive to you (or you're not attractive to them,) or live way too far away. Let's not forget these factors. That eliminates several millions or billions of people.

With that in mind, there are still several billion people that you're compatible with.

well, probably not several billion since there are only seven billion people on the planet. But there still are a lot of people out there. More than you can wave a stick at.

I'm honestly not sure sometimes. But I hope I find that special someone someday. Until then, I'll just have to keep on looking.

  • I believe there’s someone out there waiting for me. My main goal in life is to find someone who’s meant for me. I believe there someone meant for every one and one day you’ll meet them and even if you die before them you’ll still meet them one day maybe not in this life time but in another, the thing is it’s not over until there’s a happy ending. There is someone out there that is our other half our soul mate. If fate intended you to be with someone then nothing on this earth can separate you but if you weren’t meant for each other then nothing on this earth can bring you together so just leave it to fate if your meant to meet your life partner in this life time you’ll meet and no one can stop you but if not then that’s it you’ll have to wait till the next time because if it doesn’t end with happiness then it isn’t over.

No, it's just a phrase used to keep hopeless romantics from falling into depression. There is really nothing backing this up whatsoever. As for the argument that there are billions of people and at least one must be compatible... well, good luck cycling through 6 billion people to try and find that 'one'.

I may sound like a pessimist, but I'm not. I just hate claims like these that don't offer any kind of evidence to back themselves up.

I think there is someone out there for everybody, but sadly most people these days are so fake that they eliminate themselves.

That saying is just a cliche motivational technique with no real meaning behind it. Plus when you factor in people who want to be alone, then it cripples the whole, "There's someone out there for everyone." statement.

It's just natural selection. The pretty people end up with each other and the ugly ones either settle with each other or continue to hope that one pretty person who is blind will choose them for their "personality".

I think that's true. Like people were saying, there is a lot of people on the planet, so there has to be at least one for you. Maybe you'll never find one of these people, settle for someone else and pretend you're happy, which is what I believe most people do. However if you're patient and dedicated enough, and if you look everywhere, not just in your school, your workplace, your city, your country, then you might find someone who's really compatible with you, and I hope you'd love them enough to have a long-distance relationship for a while, if that's the case.

I don't know. I think it's different for different people.
You know how there are those who just seem to be compatible with all sorts of kind of people? And then there are those that are just so unique/eccentric/unconventional/quirky that it takes a special person to love them? Well I think that's how it is.

I believe the more "out there" you are, the smaller amount of people there will be that are perfect for you. But then that just makes the match all that more special.

Yeah, it's clear I'm a little high right now... :)
