Do you think the us is headed towards a civil war?

Issues such as drugs, prostitution, cause of war, etc....It just seems like the US is splitting up more and more every day. Do you think another civil war is imminent?

Yes, definitely!! 18
I lean towards "yes", not sure though. 11
I have no idea, I think it's possible though. 12
I doubt it, but I feel it's not likely. 24
No way!! No way in hell!! 19
I don't live in the US and I don't care. 5
I don't live in the US but I'd love to see the disruption!! 9
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

    1. "Drugs and prostitution"...so unlikely to cause a war (here) it's not even funny.

    2. "It just seems like the US is splitting up more and more every day" ...True facts, in terms of politics, but seriously, though lots of people I know have extremely one-sided political views one way or another, I could count on three fingers how many of them would ever actually take up fighting and killing to resolve their problems. And those three people are the sort nobody listens to so it's not like they're going to recruit many followers

    3. the biggest protests going on today are steadfastly peaceful, if a bit rowdy. Compare: 60s...70s...If it didn't happen then (it didn't), it won't happen now.

    4. Even if it did, the military/government would end that shit so fast it would have never even started.

    5. I have no idea why anyone would actually want to see a war anywhere. Thinking a war is inevitable, or necessary...sure, unlikely to be true, but sure...but thinking it's a fun thing? No. I think things need to change here too, but not with a fucking war. We'd end up nuking ourselves, which while abstractly hilarious is realistically a drag.

    • Drugs and prostitution were just some social examples...these are issues now that need serious revision. People (well, many do) want it, but the government won't allow it. It's not 'right'.....it's immoral...drugs have been made out to be so dangerous....they're mostly dangerous BECAUSE they're illegal. We're in debt up to the moon's ears, baby!! Drugs and prostitution can give us the revenue we need AND clean up our streets and jails. TONS of savings.

We are split, so why the hell can't some of us secede from the union gain and live our drug and sex fueled lives making bank while making the prudes jealous? But, I'm sure the prudes will drop by to get a piece, hypocrites.

All I can hope is that someday soon, change will come. People need to wake up. Everything's illegal, it's bullshit.

"I have no idea why anyone would actually want to see a war anywhere."

Yeah, it's better when the war is brought to a random foreign country. Let them enjoy it. :D

(No, I do not assume that you would want a war even in a foreign country. I'm just expressing my opinion on US government's actions in a sarcastic way.)

  • I hope so. The less Americans in the world the better. A country full of people so dumb they once declared war on themselves!

...yeah, except for the part where many other countries have "declared war on themselves".

      • I never said they didn't, though the others generally were opposing religious groups or one sided dictatorships. America, north vs south yeeeehaaaawwww! Not to mention Nam....what the fuck was the point of that shit other than being completely unnecessary and getting themselves fucked up. My point is they are definitely stupid enough to attack each other all over again.

I don't really like your options. I'm going with a simple no.

A civil war usually happens when a nation is starved or extremely oppressed. Not even close in this case. Civil unrest perhaps.

    • The previous US civil war wasn't due to starving or oppression, it was more due to states losing rights to the Federal gov't and the North and South having such different ideals and ways of life. Now we have a Federal gov't that says so many things are illegal, and states that want to make such things legal and don't have the 'blessing' of the Federal gov't. Doesn't sound TOO far off, now does it? Albeit maybe not as serious (right now, anyway), but still rather large issues though. With less and less money flowing, states are finding it harder and more futile to uphold federal laws (police and jails cost money!!) and not be able to tax certain things to make revenue.

Nothing with military action, at least. Perhaps a large-scale political dichotomy, but I really don't see any guns and killing happening over it.

If people in the U.S. don't change their attitudes, and right fucking now, then a civil war will happen in 40 years!

that's the one. this year alone, gas should be $5-6/gal., 50% unemployment (20% now, not the 8.3 people are stupid enough to believe), and 100% annual inflation. Clinton and Nobama have done more to destroy your livelihood and liberty than the votes they get by redistributing hard-earned wealth. Planets align and sane people go nuts with this sort of whack liberalism. there'll be food riots, squatters, and the army in the streets.
