I was recently on a forum. One person was talking about "Yanks." Another poster asked him not to say that because it is a "derogatory term." What does is it normal think?
Personally, I think it's a term of endearment. Kind of like calling British people "limey redcoats".

Since the origin of the term 'Yankee' is uncertain, and it's abbreviated form 'Yank' is derived from this, it is a term of endearment. The only reason that it is sometimes considered to be derogatory, is because of later propaganda.
However, one should be careful with it's usage. Not all Americans appreciate being called a Yank (some are more accepting, in the correct context). It would be somewhat like calling a person who lives in England, with English ancestry, a 'Scot'.
If, perchance, you are an American who is offended because someone called you a 'Yank', then simply correct them. Respond with something like; I'm not a 'Yank', I'm from (name the state), or I'm a Mississippian, etc., or I live South of the Mason and Dixon Line you moron.

He made the mistake of underestimating me and now he's losing ground.
He can't do anything to me and he knows that. I don't care if he's really just a troll getting his jollies on or if he truly believes what he's saying. Heck, I don't even care if he's telling the truth and there really are "shadow-beings" out there that he's made friends with. It doesn't matter because neither he nor they can touch me.

Primarily, because you had demanded your 'rights', refused to accept advice, continued to act in contempt and continued to exhibit harmful, Unethical behaviours.
That makes no sense whatsoever!!
I have the right to refuse advice, I have the right to live my life as I so choose (as long as I am not hurting or slandering anyone), and I have the right to believe my own religion and have my own opinions!
Why is that so bad? Shouldn't everyone be given the right to live as they wish as long as they don't hurt anyone? This is the main principle of my Constitution!

It's difficult to say. Most of these names come from what we eat. Like us calling the French froggies or the Germans sausage-munchers. In the same way, the French call the English rosbifs (roast beef) and the Americans call us limeys. It doesn't sound insulting to me. Calling Americans Yanks doesn't seem insulting either but it does sound ignorant. Not all Americans are Yankees and I don't think many non-Americans understand what a Yankee actually is. I think if you're going to use a term to refer to someone, you should at least know what it means to them.
I think that might have been meant for me and you posted to the wrong person. Fish and chips isn't an English thing. It's a Jewish thing and was introduced to us by Jewish migrants fleeing persecution in Europe.
Also God doesn't damn me because he doesn't exist.

Me and a friend introduced chip butties to a group of Swedish people when we were traveling round Europe, they thought it was a weird combination but after eating them they went crazy and started eating them everyday. I can't imagine not having a chippy round the corner, it's friday tea in my house.
You can't beat a chip buttie! They've been my Saturday night tea for three weeks in a row now. Just a shame that muffin means something else to most of the rest of the world and a chip muffin is liable to be seen as a chocolate chip muffin. And I doubt there's many on IIN who know what a barm is.
Kills me that there's about a hundred takeaways within walking distance of me and none of them is a traditional chippy. I really struggle to get chips that aren't french fries.
It wouldn't bother me. I didn't even know what it meant until I looked it up. Although some people are saying that it wasn't said at the time and has been invented afterwards, which seems a bit odd. Also, some people really will be offended because it's a military reference to a conflict in which people died.
In the same way the English and Irish could cause offence by using the term "black and tans".
I hate the term yank, and if someone called me that I would beat the shit out of them. Cause I'm born and raised in the south, and more then that I'm from Texas.
I view it as fairly derogatory, not on the same level as someone saying "You stupid n*gger." or something like that,but its still mean spirited. I get tired of hearing it.
Southerners use it as an insult. They'll ask where you're from and if it's a northern state they say "oooh a Yankee" and you'll never hear the end of it. The degree of insult varies from truly hating you for it and just teasing.
