So my bf recently confessed how he lost his "first love" a couple of yrs ago and I felt so relieved that he does have a reason to why he holds back so much. However, I wish I had told them there that he is my first love and hes basically doing to me what she did to him. Do you think by me telling him this will make him appreciate me more? He did say he is holding back cause the last time he really liked someone it didnt work out so Im thinking hes telling me he does really like me and would treat me better but hes afraid of getting his heart broken again. So I wanna tell him and hope he'll be understanding and empathetic and eventually treat me better.

    I don't think it's a good idea. He's already hesitant and your revelation could spook him more.
    Anyway, do you really want to build a relationship on guilt?

      At first I thought it was guilt, but now I just hope its more of an understanding and appreciation. If he loves me like he loved his first love and he knows that I love him like he loved her, then its mutual and it should work out.

        I would just say "You're my first love" and leave it at that. Do NOT bring up his ex or any of his past relationships. The less you talk about them with him the less she will cross his mind; and start to focus on you.
        If he wants to talk about it, listen for a bit and then try to change the subject and mood. You're with him now, she's not. Just focus on making this relationship better than the previous one he was in. (:

    tell him its not your fault that his first love f*cked up and, optionally, that if he loves you he shouldn't treat you the way she treated him
