Do you think single women should have children?

Let's say a single woman wanted a baby and to do so, sought out fertility treatments or tried to adopt a child even though there wouldn't be a father in the child's life (Assuming she never marries). Are you in agreement or disagreement?

It's Fine. It's her choice. 8
No, it's not okay and single women should be banned from becoming moms 6
If she adopts then it's fine but having a baby? NO. 5
Who cares as long as she can finiacially and emotionally raise a child 29

Statistically speaking, what makes it or breaks it for a kid is more often the financial, rather than marital state of the parent. While studies have shown that children from single mothers run into trouble (criminal, psychological, etc.) at a higher rate than their peers, it's because those studies don't correct for the income of the mothers. Children from single mother (or single father) homes do as well as children from couples if their parents are in the same income bracket.

Bottom line- if you can provide for you kid and have them grow up in a decent neighborhood, go for it.

  • Its none of my business. If she meets all the requirements to adopt then noone should be able to tell her otherwise. Those that do are just nosy assholes.

If she can love the kid and keep them safe until they can make decisions for themselves, then that is all that matters.

A lot of kids in care would be greatful enough for one parent and a loving home. As long as the mother could cope.

    The kids not mine.
    I never slept with her.
So don't be looking at me like that.
I don't care if it sorta looks like me it's not mine.

I don't think most single people, men or women can be the kind of parent most children need, today. It takes more than money to raise a child successfully. Even in a 2 parent home, if both put their careers and financial well being ahead of the needs of their child, then they are not doing the job of parenting properly. When the school system and after school care facility personnel spend more time with the children than the parents, is just not right. If someone wants children, then they should make the time and be there for them.
