Do you think prostitution should be legalised?

I'm baffled as to why prostitution isn't legal by now, or at least becoming legal in certain countries, or even being talked about becoming legal. As long as it's consensual and it doesn't hurt anyone, then it's no one's business what people do with their own bodies. No politician should be allowed to dictate what we can do solely because it's against their personal morals. Although I have absolutely no intention of becoming a prostitute myself, I am honestly angry that politicians are telling me what I can and can't do with my own body, just because they have a problem with it. They're denying me of my rights and freedoms. I can't think of any legitimate reason why it should still be outlawed.

Those are my thoughts on it anyway. What do you think?

Prostitution being illegal does nothing but create unsafe environments for sex workers.

The demand for prostitutes isn’t going to go away, it being illegal never made sense to me.

This... In some European countries, prostitution is just another job, they pay their taxes, they get healthcare...
If women want to do this, they should be free to do so safely, without being drugged, beaten, or abused.

Hell, I'd legalize drugs too... If anyone is stupid enough to want to destroy their life with stuff like meth, or cocaine... they should be free to do so.
How are cigarettes any different, or even alcohol?! (And I'm saying this as someone who loves drinking) If someone wants to ruin their life, they will find a way to do it.

And the money made from selling drugs can go into the economy and not into the pockets of sleazy drug barons.

Totally agree. Always had an idea for legalized hard drugs that are regulated and safer, the dispensaries get taxed and those can go to addiction consuls to make them subsidized or completely free, if the person wants to stop. Not sure how well this would actually work, and most people are against legalizing hard drugs.

  • as mush as I loathe both prostitutes and the men that frequent them, I'm with you. Its an agreement between two people and is none of anyone else's business.

Exactly, great answer. That's your opinion and you're entitled to it and you're entitled to express it. But you don't try to dictate to others how to live their lives despite how much you disagree with it. It's sad that not everyone can do that.

Hell yeah it should be legalized... That way it can be and regulated to where the Prostitutes are tested regularly. Plus i think that it wood be much safer for the Prostitutes so they wouldn't be in fear of the police and could report when they are forced or anything like that

I don’t think we want a situation such as before pre 90s with junkie prostitutes all over the streets and sleazy kerb crawlers trawling around the neighbourhood. That’s what it was like where I live. It was kind of edgy and interesting but not such a great environment for kids etc. However, people should be allowed to do whatever the fuck they want in the privacy of their own home or a brothel. So long as they pay their taxes like everyone else I don’t see why it’s a problem. In fact where I live it isn’t. We have legal brothels but they are only allowed to set up in industrial estates where there’s no housing. Also sex workers can work from home and it’s perfectly legal. Been that way for decades.

I would legalise. I'd probably go to a couple if the price was right, and it was regulated. Don't really want to go to some Eastern Europeans sex brothel where I don't know what's going on, or if the girls are alright. Where as if it were legal you could probably get relatively cheap home visits and that.

A good mate of mine's a hooker, and she's pretty small too; I do worry a bit, and I know she does too, that she'll meet some nutter and end up in some danger; a regulated market would go a long way to helping issues like that.

Places like Germany its legal. They have locations you can go to it's pretty cool. I think it should be legal cause its gonna happen anyways so let those poor men and women be safe

Fucking a hooker is like fucking the dozen other guys who paid her for it earlier in the day. I'll never understand for the life of me why guys do this. And most times they're just keeping her drug money topped up. Keep it illegal.

I guess that's the unpopular opinion, and you may fire at will.

I agree with what you say, but even if it was an unpopular opinion, it's still a bad argument for keeping it illegal. If anything it's an argument for legalising it. If prostitution were legal then it would be cleaner and safer, prostitutes would be required to get regular std tests. Also if she's that addicted to drugs she's gonna go into prostitution no matter what, keeping it illegal is just wasting police money arresting hundreds of prostitutes.

Anal and oral should be a crime, enforced by drones and cameras in every home. No sex in the dark or under a blanket.

Just because you believe in realpolitik doesn't mean everyone does. It's my opinion that politicians shouldn't go against their morals.

They don't have to go against their morals, if they think prostitution is wrong then they can choose not to visit one. They're imposing their morals on us, that's different. What if it was their moral belief that we should all live by sharia law?

Then they should impose such a thing. Making it easier for others to be immoral is immoral.

I doubt you'd be saying that if you lived in such a country. Well then you're arguing against lifestyle freedoms and free will.

I believe that people shouldn't be forced to live where they don't want. If one lives in a country they despise, they should be able to leave and find another place to live.

How is the freedom to move your body where you want different from the freedom to do with your body what you want?

Should be legal! One thing though, I would make enforceable that the prostitutes have to have weekly std test completed.
