Do you think OP's should be allowed to delete/remove comments PURELY because they disagree with that poster's opinion? This is what is it normal is all about, asking questions and getting feedback, advice and opinions. If you don't want someones opinion, don't ask the question. is it normal to think this?

This is absolutely not what I'm doing.
People often times come into my Threads just wanting to rage on me and leave senseless remarks.
Most of the time, I don't care, but when it comes from those I care about (Frosties, suckonthis9 and others) I move quickly to erase the Comments that make them seem foolish so their reputation isn't tarnished.
It's a favor really.
I've always believed in letting the stupid speak, and since you are the self-proclaimed judge of stupid speakers, I'll address it that way. It exposes the stupidity from which it came.
When you silence those who expose YOUR own weaknesses, it proves to those who doubt your credibility...that their suspicions were well founded.
I don't think anybody's angry. Certainly I'm not. Most people question censorship. If you've determined that someone said something stupid...leave it there and let them prove themselves stupid.
You are prone to delete comments. That's going to make people question your motives and doubt your credibility. I think that point is proven by the number of thumbs up I received as well as by other comments I've read.
Just trying to offer helpful suggestions. Do with it as you will.
I don't see a whole lot of reasons that OP's should be able to delete comments, apart from blatant, racist, cruel, inflammatory remarks... and trolls. Maybe a mark for removal option and management can review, to make sure that OP isn't just trying to sway votes to support their own agenda?

Dont think they should be allowed to delete comments. it makes the post more open and gives different views. Other people should be able to agree or disagree with previous comments
Maybe the OP should have the option to hide a comment instead of deleting it.
I think the OP should be able to delete posts. Sure, there are some people that might abuse the function, but if the person is really worth debating against, they probably will not delete the post without a good reason.

Or "No" for that matter, which i believe is what I would answer after pondering. I've had a very controversial poll here and oddly enough I did not hide any of the comments that were against me and the poll itself, though I knew I had the power to do so. I believe people have the right to express themselves, even when they are being unreasonable and assholes.
This is a great Thread and I'm with you on this one OP.
But it's pretty much irrelevant.
The OP can always say he deleted for X or Y reason, not because he disagreed with the Opinion. It's an impossible thing to enforce.
Oh yeah? What if it some troll that only wants to insult people and say vugarity. You think we should be able to delete trolls either? I dissagree with trolls opinions, I delete them all the time.

Well I think some comments are just troll comments. Comments which are completely off topic and meant only to offend should. Like if someone is talking about birth control and someone randomly post "I hate black people! They should all die"!

I think the OP should be allowed to delete the comments, no matter what because it's not like you can discriminate the delete comment option to only certain criteria.
I think that if the post is vulgar or offensive then yes, of course the OP should be able to remove it. If it's just an opinion that you don't agree with then no, they shouldn't be able to. Too bad I can't think of anyway for this to happen!
