Do you think men and women can really be friends?

Ive read hundreds of post on this topic what I have found is that men seem to think they can't and women se to think they can however they can rarely no a male friend that wouldn't sleep with them if they had the opportunity. In my opinion in a true friendship neither individual is seen as a means to an end. However in most of these friendships the man is merely friends with the woman to increase the probability that she will sleep with him. To me that is not a symbiotic relationship but a parasitic one.

    I'm a guy and have female friends (good looking ones too) that I have no intention of sleeping with. They're fun to hang out with, but don't match up with my personal preferences.

    Remember, a good female friend may also assist the male in picking up other girls that he does want to sleep with.

    I don't know. All I do know is that for me personally, no. I am much too lonely in my life.

      Cheer up bro. I don't know you personally, but from what I've read on your comments you sound like a great guy. I know that there is some girl out waiting till a man like you shows up in her life.

    I had a best guy friend for 12 years and I loved him very much as a friend. I would have taken a bullet for him but I wouldn't want to sleep with him. Well, he ended up telling me what he wanted to do to me and so I had to break off the friendship. It was sad and he told me it was a joke but the damage was done.

    The issue is men are so use to chasing anything with boobs. Women tend to be on the offensive often because they have figured this out. Some women will go out of their way to chase the one man everyone wants. Not all women are doing this and I am sure it creates trouble for even them. "Sex will make anyone stupid" Oh what a curse has been placed upon us. Such a stupid and useless function. Not like we do not have other ways of reproducing but we are stuck with this idiotic function. I think teenage years would be more tolerable if not for the wild hormones, teen pregnancies and uncontrollable boners in the middle of class.

    Assuming that people can't be friends with the gender they're attracted too is ridiculous. If that were true, I, a bisexual, would have no friends.

    I prefer guy friends over female friends, way less catty and they don't get offended when i crack jokes at their expense or when i'm blunt.

    Plus they can hook me up with their hot best friends

    Yes they can. There are many factors that can play into developing feelings for someone beyond that of friendship. For me, personally, I find it easy to be friends with women because I don't so much act any infatuation that I may have towards the girl.
