by hardcore criminals, I mean any of the following:
...rapists, pedophiles, murderers, serial killers, etc.
This is a controversial issue because... what if the accused criminal actually turned out innocent after they received the death sentence?

Most murderers rapists eg don't stop committing these crimes after the have been released. They go and do it again and again. So maybe if they do it more than once they should get the death penalty? Because no one should suffer because of these horrible people.

The cost of housing one criminal in jail for a year equates to seven tuition's (two years) of community college or seven rehab's. The cost for lethal injection comes out to roughly $72.38. Financially speaking it is cheaper to kill them all but from a humanist standpoint why don't we just spend the money we are using on housing minor offenders to rehabilitate and prevent violent crimes and instead deem sociopaths "criminally insane" and lock them in solitary confinement with rehabilitation efforts for first and second offenses then initiate a death sentence on the third? That system is cheaper and more likely to yield results then throwing all offenders in with the small percent of violent offenders and forcing them to learn violent ways.
I believe that the ones who can not be rebabilitated should see the death sentence...they are harmful to society and to the ppl around them.

i think no one should get the chair but should get less objects or smaller cell depending on there crime and how many times they have done it. i know you might be like oh thats ridiculous but if you look at it in black and white if you give someone the death sentence then you are just as much a killer as them i mean you already have them in your cells its not like he has a chance of escaping so you have to think kill him now or let him escape to kill another no we have the option let him live but in a cell or kill him. i mean soldiers kill others in war what is the difference? just because they are defending you does that make it ok? and are you happy that they are killing in your name?
Criminals are human beings...you have no idea why they committed a crime...they could have had a crappy life, or like many, are untreated mentally ill people that never recieved medicine EVER...they need help and redirection...if that doesn't work then they stay in prison...but taking another persons life is the same no matter who they are or what the circumstances.
i think being locked up for life is worse than being killed...once your killed the punishment is over

Pedofiles are the worst cuz its a crime against an innocent child. But anyone who commits a serious crime deserves the same treatment they commited. Death. Of course California is way too lenient on the death penalty. Im with Texas on that one
What if they (the rapists, molesters, and serial killers) were given the option of suicide (maybe after a year, or so, of prison time), or a life of imprisonment (aka. Hell-On-Earth). They could be punished, and we could save taxpayer money for other, more important citizens, like children. That way everyone wins.
ALL violent criminals deserve the death sentence. It's scum like them that screws up our society and makes me despise so much of humanity.
I'm all for the death sentence, but for hardcore criminals like the ones mentioned, make their executions public and extremely painful.
I think that if there's hard core, irrefutable proof then yeah, they should go burn in hell. But it's like, whenever I'm asked this question I'm always like 'what if they turn out to be innocent', but whenever I read about a girl being raped and the guy being arrested I just really, really hope they kill him :/ with or without proof. I guess my emotions get the better of me

they deserve to be locked away for life to suffer an eternity in a cramped, crowded jail cell. they dont deserve the easy way out.
I find it stupid that if a middle aged man rapes a seven year old girl that he just gets locked up in federal prison and then be released to just do it again, am I saying that they should be executed immediately No! What I'm saying is that if they are locked up for life then taxpayers will have to spend their money feeding some Joe shmoe rapist instead of doing something better with it or not having to pay it at all. In the description you said that what if they were actually innocent, you can't put anybody in jail without substantial evidence! So if Joe shmoe raper raped this girl and she called the cops, spotted him in a line up, then confesse in an interrogation (or interveiw for the delicate souls readin this) then they should probably kill him. This would save thousands of dollars and taxpayer money would go to the payment of a paralysing fluid instead if feeding the mother fucker in the first place!

If you had a choice between the death sentence and life in prison with no chance of parol, what would you chose? I know with out a dought I would pick death! Because what's the point in living if you're going to live behind bars for your hole life what a crappy life, wouldn't be worth it I'd kill myself. So I think its better to give life in prison then death for two reasons.
1. It more of a punishment to have them sufer a long a boring life behind bars.
2. So they take a life and you punish them by taking there's that MAJORLY hypocritcle

I believe being locked up in a cage doesn't necessarily fix anything. I think they should use more psychology to treat the person in addition to the punishment, depending on the details and circumstances. Some people are just pure evil, and those people have little likelihood to change. The only way they could is if they seek God but that can't be mixed into politics. On the other hand when it's evident that a person is not evil then, it's my opinion that that person should receive more psychological treatment.
I think it depends on the situation, hitting a man and he falls, bumps his head and dies doesn't get the same punishment as a sicko pedophile! KILL THEM ALL BRUTALLY! a murder and a pedophile are hardly hard core criminals ... basically many normal good people will fall into those catagorys ... its easy to get into a fit of anger and kill someone and deeply regret it after ..... hard core criminals would be people who murder for pleasure or torture ... or terorists that target inocent people, schools bus's etc
I don't think it's society's responsibility to decide whether a person's life should be terminated or not, regardless of how they've acted. I think that people can change and realize that what they're doing is damaging to other people. I also don't put that much faith in the judicial system. All people are fallible, not just those on trial. What if the sentence is carried out against an innocent man/woman? I agree, the crimes they commit are atrocious, but there's no reason to send them to the great unknown for it.
even if they're repeat offenders? there are just some people in this world that have been messed up to the point where they no longer have emotions the same as we do. they don't feel the same disgust we feel when we imagine killing or doing some other atrocious act, it is the only thing they know, and makes them feel powerful.
I don't put much faith in those people for changing. they've gone to a dark, dark place and theres no way to bring them back into the light.

What if we could banish them to a horrible island? An island surrounded by cold, choppy water thousands of miles away from the nearest inhabited piece of land?
That way they're no longer part of our society. They would cost no money to rehabilitate, execute, or keep alive forever. And we would not be stooping to the barbarity of the death penalty.
